4. Fit the PVC conduit fitting onto the end of the PVC conduit,
push together tightly and hold for about 10 seconds.
5. The conduit fitting should fit recessed into the 1 ¼" flush to
the outside wall.
Step 12: Mounting the Power Inlet Box to the
Outside Wall
1. Level the rear panel of the power inlet box on your outside wall.
2. Insert the three stainless steel 1 ½" box mounting screws
into the three mounting holes molded into the back panel of
the outdoor power inlet box.
3. Tighten the power inlet box to the outside wall with power
drill being careful not to distort soft exterior wall materials.
4. Compress the foam insulating ring when tightening to add
weatherproofing to the fixture.
NOTE: Since outside wall contours and surface materials
vary widely, it will be up to you to determine whether you
need anchors for the three supplied stainless steel screws or
different types of screws.
Step 13: Wiring the Power Inlet Box
1. Holding the slide-out wiring tray of the power inlet box in
your hand, insert the four pre-stripped wires into the set
screw holes in the base of the power inlet as follows:
a. Green wire into hole marked "G"
b. White wire into hole marked "W"
c. Black wire into hole marked "X"
d. Red Wire into hole marked "Y"
2. Push the wires all the way into the marked terminal holes
3. Tighten the set screws on the sides of each terminal until
the wire will not pull out.
4. Make sure the copper wire, not the insulation, is clamped in
the terminals.
5. Slide the tray all the way back into the power inlet box.
6. Tuck the wires neatly.
7. Replace the power inlet box cover, tightening the two
long screws.
If your generator has a L5-30 outlet that looks like this with 3-prongs
You will need to change the 4-prong male L14-30P plug
3-prong male L5-30P plug.
To do this: 1) Purchase an L5-30P 120Volt male plug at your local hardware store or
homecenter; 2) Remove the 4 prong male plug on your generator cord so that there are 4
wires ready to connect to the 3 prong plug (L5-30P).; 3) Take the RED and BLACK wires in the
cord, strip them accordingly and put both of them in the "HOT" terminal on the L530 plug.; 4)
Connect the WHITE neutral wire to the neutral terminal and connect the GREEN ground wire to
the ground terminal on the L5-30 male plug.; 5) Make sure that all connections are secure and
will not pull out.; 6) The result is a cord with a 3 wire plug end and a 4 wire connector end which
can be connected between your generator and the generator cord power inlet box supplied
with the WKPBN30 Through-the-Wall Kit. ; 7) This set up will allow all of the outlets in the
Through-the-Wall inside power panel to receive 120 volts.
