1. Setting Ballast-Off Delay:
Set the delay the ballasts must be maintained OFF when switching lights from one room
to other room. Two options are provided: SHORT DELAY (5 seconds) and LONG delay
(5 minutes). Safe and recommended value is LONG DELAY.
A) sFF4 OPERATION
Switching lights between rooms when power is still applied causes electric arcs on relay
contacts that can either injure users or damage switching equipment reducing its
lifetime. The sFF4 always turns the ballasts OFF before switching lights to prevent these
dangerous and damaging electric arcs to happen.
B) LIGHT SWITCHING SEQUENCE EVERY 12 HOURS
A light switching sequence is started every time the trigger cord state changes, that is,
when trigger cord voltage switches from 0V to 120V or 120V to 0V. In normal operation,
lights are switched from one room to other room every 12 hours and the trigger cord is
plugged into a 24H timer, whose day/night cycle is set to 12H/12H .
For easy preset 24H timer, use the Garden Controls Light Timer.
(gardencontrols.com/light-timer.html)
A light switching sequence is made up of 3 ACTIONS:
ACTION 1: the 4 ballasts turn OFF 1 second after trigger cord state changes.
•
ACTION 2: the 4 lights switch to opposite side 1 second after ballasts turn OFF.
•
ACTION 3: the 4 ballasts turn ON 5 seconds or 5 minutes (per user setting, see next
•
page) after the lights switch to opposite side. ROOM A or ROOM B lights are
selected according to the trigger cord voltage:
C) LIGHT SWITCHING SEQUENCE at POWER UP :
During a regular switching sequence—that occurs every 12 hours— you hear 3 audi-
ble relays CLICKS that correspond to ACTIONS 1 to 3 described above.
At power up, 1 or 2 audible clicks may be skipped depending on actual trigger cord
voltage when main power (240V) is applied:
If trigger cord voltage is 0V: only ACTION 3 (ballast ON) will generate an audible
•
click.
If trigger cord voltage is 120V: only ACTIONS 2 and 3 (switching lights and ballast
•
ON) will generate audible clicks.
