Introduction and Features
• The FSS1 a high security door position monitoring
device. It is an ideal alternative for traditional
balanced magnetic reed switches on hinged doors.
• The FSS1 is designed for hinged doors only, and
is not designed to operate on sliding doors or
roller shutter doors.
• The three product models consist of two main
components: the sensor on the door frame and the
magnet array plate on the door.
• Seven magnetic sensors detect the magnetic
footprint from an array of magnets on the magnet
array plate. Six of these sensors determine
polarity, size, strength and position of magnets on
the magnet array plate in relation to the recorded
pattern, and the seventh sensor detects the position
of the magnet array plate
in relation to the FSS1 sensor.
• The FSS1 is not factory calibrated to it's supplied
magnet array plate. The FSS1 is calibrated when
first powered and with the first closing of the door,
when it will record magnetic measurements into
memory. The FSS1 can be recalibrated in case of
door droop or door warp.
• The magnet array plate provides at least 1,820
permutations using at least 4 magnets in different
positions, strength and polarity. In addition, the
magnet array plate position, orientation, door gap
and surrounding material adds more variables,
greatly expanding the base permutations. The
magnetic matrix and door parameters are recorded
by the sensor during calibration.
