8. TAKE THE SUP TO WATER, POSITION, USE

Final preparations

1. Check that all PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS are met (see section "SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS").
2. Check that the CONDITIONS AT THE WORK SITE correspond to the requirements (see section
"SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS").
3. Notify appropriate people of the planned activity.
4. Check that the SUP board is in good condition. Check that the valve protection cap is secure and tight.
5. Check the air pressure in the SUP board. Please note that heat and direct sunlight increase the air
pressure. On the other hand, cold (eg cold water) lowers the air pressure.
6. Put on suitable protective clothing against UV radiation and/or cooling down (see section 'Safety
information').
7. Put on a suitable buoyancy aid (e.g. life jacket).
8. Put on a suitable protective helmet.
Transport and Store the SUP Board
1. Hold the SUP board by the handle and carry it under your arm. Be prepared for gusts of wind. Make
sure that you do not injure yourself and others with the SUP board and especially with the fins.
2. Place the SUP board at the edge of the water. Be careful not to damage it.
3. Securely attach a suitable safety line ('leash') to the ring on the top rear of the SUP board. Fasten the
other end of the lanyard securely above the ankle.
4. Check that all OTHER PREREQUISITES are met (see subsection 'RIGHT BEFORE USE' in 'SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS' section).
Put the SUP Board in the Water
1. Carefully place the SUP board in the water at a suitable spot. Use a helper to do this if necessary. Make
sure you hold the paddle securely at all times.
2. Kneel on the SUP board. Make sure that you cannot fall on a hard object in case of a fall.
Use a SUP Board
1. Carefully adopt the posture that suits your ability and desires: remain kneeling, sit down, or stand up.
The normal standing position is in the middle of the SUP board near the handle.
2. Use the SUP board while observing all precautionary rules. Pay particular attention to other water
sports enthusiasts, animals and obstacles on and under the water.
3. Always check that the SUP board has no leaks. Please note that the air pressure in the SUP board
drops when the water temperatures are cold. If you do spot signs of a leak, drive calmly but quickly
to an appropriate, safe exit point.
4. Also discontinue the activity if you find that your skills are not yet sufficient. Get the help of a suitable
SUP trainer.
