Harness
• The Latchways PRD descender device shall only be used with an Approved harness.
• Approved harnesses shall comply with EN 361:2002 and EN 358:1999 and relevant standards
within the country of use.
• Approved harnesses shall be examined and maintained in accordance with the manufacturers'
instructions.
• An Approved harness is designed to arrest a single fall from height only once. If subjected to an
arrested fall the Approved harness shall be withdrawn from service and destroyed.
Using the Latchways PRD descender device
Fitting and adjusting the harness
The safety of the User is dependant upon a correctly fitted Approved harness. This shall be worn
over any clothing. Refer to separate Approved harness manufacturers' User instructions for fitting,
inspection and maintenance of the Approved harness

Additional fall arrest attachments
Some Approved harnesses may include attachment points (e.g. at the chest, shoulders or hips).
Refer to separate Approved harness User instructions for correct use of these attachment points.
The Latchways PRD rescue facility will operate on the rear attachment point
Note: If adjustment of the shoulder straps is required, remove the
harness and undo the zips on either side of the backpack (Figure 10).
Adjust the shoulder straps by sliding the shoulder strap adjustment
buckles and cross strap buckle (where the shoulder straps cross).
Check adjustment by continuing to try on the harness until the chest
strap and connection point are correctly positioned.
