Title:
I. DESCRIPTION
The aluminium rail O is a horizontal rigid anchor line. It is used in fixed and permanent installation. It adapts to any type of course and easily crosses curves,
reentrant and salient angles. The user's carriage is installed at the time of installation of the system, and cannot be removed. It is mounted on ball bearings which
facilitate the movement along the track, following the path of the operator, without any manipulation.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The anchoring devices have been subjected to tests in accordance with European standard EN 795. The terminal and intermediate structural anchors will be
designed to withstand twice the force that will be applied. These forces will be determined by the manufacturer and indicated in a calculation note.
MARKING
A plate will be fixed on one of the terminal support or on the safety panel situated at the access, with the following indications:
The number of operators who can use the fall arrest rail simultaneously.
-
The date of first entry into service.
-
The recommendation for the use of a connection in accordance with European standards :
-
guided type fall arrester on a flexible anchor line, EN 353-2,
-
retractable type fall arrester,EN 360,
-
The minimum clearance required, taking into account the bending of the rail and the recommended connection. (For more information, see calculation note).
-
II. USE
The aluminum O-rail must be used with an appropriate connection, as well as with a work or safety harness in accordance with EN 361.
It may, if necessary, be used as a work positioning system, but in no case for work in suspension. Its main function is to stop, in good conditions, the fall of a worker
from his working point.
The device will always be positioned above the operator. In the event of a fall, the carriage will position itself in line with the axis of the fall.
III. CHECKS BEFORE USE
Before any use of the aluminium O rail,
- visually inspect the overall condition of the rail and carriage (s),
- check that the fall arrest systems used are compatible with it,
- ensure that proper instructions are in place for the use of fall arrest systems associated with the rail,
- check that the rail has not suffered any deformation due to any fall or shock, if it is equipped with a permanent connection system, by making sure that the fall
indicator of the latter is not triggered.
It is only after these checks that the aluminum O-rail can be used.
IV. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ACCIDENT PREVENTION
Since this device is a safety system, any operating anomaly or any doubt concerning the safety of the device or its components must be reported to the
manufacturer and the equipment sent back to be checked and repaired if necessary.
WARNING: after a fall, contact us immediately for a complete service of any parts that might have been damaged.
V. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
The aluminium O-rail is anodized for better weather resistance, the steel carriage is treated against corrosion and then painted. There device can be installed in
the open air without problems.
Only auxiliary components, such as retractable fall arresters installed permanently, must be fitted with a protective system.
VI. SERVICING INSTRUCTIONS
This device shall be subject to periodic inspection, once every 12 months, by a duly authorized competent person. In the event of a malfunction, only the
manufacturer is entitled to dismantle and, if necessary, to replace certain parts of the aluminium O-rail device.
VII. CONFORMITY WITH STANDARDS
This Lifeline has been subjected to internal testing in accordance with Standard EN 795:1996.
