5. Place the self-clinching fastener on the hole of
the workpiece.
6. Switch on the tool protection system with the
Toggle Switch On/Off.
7. Loosen the controller on the tool protection
system by turning it counterclockwise.
8. Slide the loosened controller down to 210 mm
(8 1/4 in).
9. Keep hands away from both tool holders.
10. Press the Down Footswitch.
The upper tool holder moves down and
»
stops in front of the self-clinching fastener.
11. Press again the Down Footswitch until the
upper tool touches the self-clinching fastener.
The pressing-in process starts.

12. Shift the regulator on the tool protection system
slowly until the Tool Contact Light turns green
and read the value of this position from the
position indicator.
13. From the read position, shift the controller
upwards 7 mm for machines with 60 Hertz and
8 mm for machines with 50 Hertz.
14. Lock the controller at this position by turning it
clockwise.
If the used self-clinching fastener
has an unusually long press-in
length so that the press-in force is
exerted over a stroke length of more
than 1.5 mm (0.06 in), the controller
must be additionally shifted for
1 mm or 1.5 mm.
If there are difficulties determining
the correct position, contact the
HONSEL service.
15. Press the Up Footswitch to move the upper tool
holder approximately to the starting position.
16. Set the Selection Switch Operation/Setup to
Operation.
The tool protection system is set up.

3 .11 .1 Fill feed tank

Attention
Wrong filling of the feed tank
Damage of the automatic feed
system
• Clean the self-clinching
fasteners from sand and dirt
before use.
• Do not pour or throw the
self-clinching fasteners into the
automatic feed system, but lay
them.
• Fill not more than 300
self-clinching fasteners into the
feed tank.

Special tools are needed to use
the automatic feed system, please
contact the HONSEL service for
further information.
Precondition:
• The optional fixed stop system is mounted on
the machine.
• The machine is set up, see chapter 3.7 or 3.8
• The desired tool is installed in both tool
holders.
• Self-clinching fasteners are free of sand and
dirt.
1. Switch on the automatic feed system with the
Switch On/Off.
LED On on the operating unit of the

automatic feed system lights green.
2. Remove any other type of self-clinching
fasteners out of the feed tank.
3. Lay a maximum of 300 self-clinching fasteners
in the bottom of the feed tank.
