The Indicator Pressure and Force shows
»
3000 lb (13 kN) during force application.
After the pressing-in process, the upper

If the force is not applied correctly,
start the procedure from the

13. Cover the lower flat anvil completely with a
non-conductive object (plastic or paper, for
example).
14. Keep hands away from both tool holders.
15. Press and hold the Down Footswitch until the
upper flat anvil touches the non-conductive
object.
The safety system is activated and the
»
upper tool holder returns to its starting
position.
The Indicator Pressure and Force does not
»
show force when touching the non-conduc-
tive object.
If the upper tool holder does not
return to its starting position at the
end of this step, or the Indicator
Pressure and Force shows force
when touching, the safety system is
defective.
WARNING
Defective safety system
Death, serious injury or material
damage
If the safety system is defective,
block the machine immediately
and secure it against use.
3 .3 .3 Test safety system for
non-conductive materials
If the ambient temperature is
below 15 °C, the machine must be
switched on to preheat at least 10
minutes before starting work.
Precondition:
The power plug is connected.
The Switch Emergency Stop is deactivated.
The basic function of safety system was tested
successfully, see chapter 3.3.1.
1. Insert a 25 mm (1 in) flat anvil into both tool
holders.
2. Set the Selection Switch Operation/Setup to
Setup.
3. Insert the associated key into the Key Switch
Operating Mode.
4. Turn the Key Switch Operating Mode with the
key to Conductive Materials.
5. Keep hands away from both tool holders.
6. Press the Down Footswitch until the upper flat
anvil touches the lower flat anvil.
7. Press and hold the Down Footswitch while
turning the Rotary Knob Press-In Force until
the Indicator Pressure and Force shows
approximately 3000 lb (13 kN).
8. Release the Down Footswitch.
9. Press the Up Footswitch until the distance
between both anvils is approximately 10 cm
(4 in).
10. Set the Selection Switch Operation/Setup to
Operation.
11. Keep hands away from both tool holders.
12. Press the Down Footswitch.
The force is applied.

14. Turn the Key Switch Operating Mode with the
key to Non-Conductive Materials.
15. Press the Down Footswitch.
The upper tool holder moves down and

stops in front of the flat anvil.
16. Release the Down Footswitch.
17. Grab the upper tool holder with both hands on
the sides and push it upwards up to the stop.
18. Measure the distance between both flat anvils
with a calibrated measuring instrument.
The measured distance is at least 0.25 mm
»
(0.01 in).
If the distance between both
flat anvils is less than 0.25 mm
(0.01 in), the safety system is
defective.
WARNING
Defective safety system
Death, serious injury or material
damage
If the safety system is defective,
block the machine immediately
and secure it against use.
