If the field strength too low, the device may possibly not indicate that a voltage
is applied. If the device does not detect an applied voltage, this might be the
result of several factors including, but not limited to:
• Shielded wires/cabling
• Thickness and type of insulation
• Distance from the power supply
• Fully insulated consumers preventing effective earthing.
• Bushings in wall sockets / differences in socket design
• Condition of the device and batteries
Note
Only for use by qualified personnel.
Anyone using this tester must be adequately trained and familiar with the par-
ticular hazards arising in an industrial environment during voltage testing, the
necessary safety precautions and the methods to check the tester before and
after each use to ensure it is operating correctly.
Read and comply with the five safety rules:
1. Disconnect mains
2. Prevent reconnection
3. Test absence of voltage by approved means (establish absence of
voltage using two-pole voltage indicators)
4. Earthing and short-circuiting
5. Protect adjacent live parts using covers
Do not expose the device to high temperatures for any length of time
Avoid dusty and humid ambient conditions.
Measurement devices and accessories are not toys and should always be kept
away from children!
In commercial facilities the accident prevention regulations (in Germany
issued by the commercial trade association for the safety of electrical
systems and equipment) must be observed.
