8.6 Performing the pressing operation

1. Check whether the nominal width of the press fitting corresponds to the nominal width of the
inlays.
2. Open and lock the press tool.
3. Push the press tool onto the press fitting and align accordingly.
4. Close the press tool.
5. Perform the pressing operation.
6. Open the press tool and release it from the press fitting.

WARNING!
Risk of injury from ejected fragments as the result of material fatigue.
Press tools are wearing parts. Frequent pressing will result in material fatigue. Press
tools worn or damaged in any other way as the result of material fatigue can break even
if used properly; there is then a risk of injury from ejected fragments. The risk of
breakage is further increased in the event of improper use.
CAUTION!
Faulty pressing!
Dirt, swarf, etc. in the contours of the inlays leads to a risk of faulty pressing.
Therefore:
– Ensure that there is no dirt, swarf, etc. in the contours of the inlays.

To align the tool with the pipe, compliance with the system manufacturer's instructions is
essential.
Information!
The device must be held in the aligned position during the entire pressing operation.
Information!
Always follow the system supplier's instructions when placing the press tool onto the
press fitting.
CAUTION!
Loose connection through faulty pressing
Therefore:
– Make sure that the inlays are fully closed when the pressing operation is complete.
– Should the pressing operation be not fully complete, the pressing must be repeated.
– Have the press tool inspected for damage by an authorised workshop if the pressing
operation has still not been completed correctly.
