The following statements
apply to pumps driven by
asynchronous motors.
Important note about suitable
residual current devices:
In case of faults, DC
residual currents may occur.
These may prevent the type A
residual current operated
circuit-breaker (RCCB) from
tripping.
For this reason a suitable
residual current device, such
as a type B residual current
operated circuit-breaker
(AC/DC sensitive) has to be
provided for (refer to EN
50178, amongst others).
When using a type B residual
current operated circuit-
breaker, no type A RCCB must
be installed upstream the
type B RCCB.
Note:
The enable signal indicates
to the frequency converter
that there are no safety
hazards associated with a
pump start-up.
All examples mentioned below
are suggestions which should
be assessed by the user in
accordance with the complete
operating manual.

When connected to the power
supply, the frequency
converter is energised and
presents a danger to life.
Improper installation of the

motor, frequency converter or
control lines may permanently
damage the frequency
converter or system, which
could result in severe
personal injuries or death.
To provide protection against
electric shock, the frequency
converter has to be
disconnected from the power
supply before carrying out
any maintenance work.
®
However, the BADU
Eco Drive
II link capacitors of remain
energised for a very long
period of time after the
device has been disconnected
from the power supply.
Following disconnection from
the power supply, it is
therefore imperative to
observe the waiting times
specified on the device or in
the product manual before
carrying out any maintenance
work!
Always adhere to the
instructions given in the
corresponding product manuals
as well as to local and
national regulations and
safety instructions!
Make sure the motor runs in
the proper direction of
rotation, otherwise you may
have to swap two wires at the
motor.
Note:
Usually, small motors are
designed for star connection,
whereas larger motors use a
delta connection.
After installation has been
properly completed in
accordance with chapter 5

the product manual - small
motors with star, larger
motors with delta - (tip:
