5. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the filter holder with drip stop, making sure the spout of the jug
is in the centre, facing the coffee machine.
6. Insert the plug of the coffee machine in an earthed wall socket. If the plug is already in the socket, but the coffee machine
is switched off, briefly press the [START/STOP] button to activate the operating panel of the coffee machine.
7. Press the [GRIND OFF] button to switch off the grinding function. When the indicator led [GRIND OFF] lights up, coffee will
be made without first grinding beans.
8. Select the required coffee strength by pressing the [LIGHT] or [STRONG] button. This determines how quickly the water
passes through the coffee. At a low flow rate, the coffee has more time to acquire taste and this has an effect on the
strength of the coffee. If you wish, press the [STRONG] button for extra strong coffee. The indicator led at the chosen setting
[LIGHT] or [STRONG] lights up.
9. Start the coffee machine by pressing the [START/STOP] button. This button and the ring-shaped indicator led light up and
coffee will be made.
10. Once the filtering process has been completed, a beep will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led lights up continuously.
Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the coffee. Tilt the glass jug by no more than 45 degrees to avoid spillage.
The hot plate under the glass jug is switched on automatically when making coffee and is switched off again after
35 minutes (three beeps will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led goes out).
11. Coffee tastes best immediately after it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving. The glass jug can
immediately be placed back on the hot plate or you can pour the coffee into a thermos jug.
INTERRUPTING THE COFFEE MAKING PROCESS
If you want to interrupt the coffee making process, in order to pour a few cups for example, you must press the [START/STOP]
button to switch off the coffee machine temporarily. The ring-shaped indicator led no longer flashes and the [START/STOP]
indicator led lights up continuously. The drip stop prevents the appliance from dripping when you remove the glass jug from
the coffee machine.
You can resume the coffee making process by placing the glass jug back under the filter holder and pressing the [START/STOP]
button.
Caution: If you are making coffee with shop bought extra-fine grind coffee, press the [GRIND OFF] button after the interruption
to switch off the grinding function. In that case the [GRIND OFF] indicator led lights up. If this led is extinguished, new coffee
beans will be ground after the interruption, which is not what you want.
SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE MACHINE
Press the [START/STOP] button for two seconds to switch off the coffee machine. The indicator leds switch off, as well as the
hot plate.
Attention: The hot plate cools down slowly after switching off and could remain hot for some time.
Do not forget to remove the paper filter bag and throw it away or to remove the permanent filter and rinse it clean. Swing open
the filter holder and remove the filter. Throw away the filter bag. When using the permanent filter, empty it, clean it and use
it again. Allow the appliance to cool down properly first, before removing the filter.
Regularly clean the coffee machine. This is not only beneficial for the life span of the appliance, it also ensures optimum use
of the appliance and, of course, good tasting coffee.
Cleaning should involve the following:
Prior to cleaning, always check that the coffee machine is switched off, cooled down and that the plug has been removed
from the socket.
Remove all separate components from the appliance.
After each use, clean all separate components in hot water and a mild washing-up liquid. Then rinse thoroughly with hot
water and wipe dry.
Press the drip stop at the filter outlet upwards a few times to make sure the filter outlet is dry.
