2 Safety Notes
The unit and the AC /AC adaptor correspond to
the directive for electromagnetic compatibility
89/336/EEC. The AC/AC adaptor additionally
corresponds to the low voltage directive
73/23/EEC.
WARNING The AC /AC adaptor uses danger-
ous mains voltage (230 V~). To
prevent a shock hazard do not
open the cabinet. Leave servicing
to authorized skilled personnel
only.
It is necessary to observe in any case the fol-
lowing items:
The AC/AC adaptor is suitable for indoor use
only. Protect the unit and the AC/AC adaptor
against dripping water and splash water, high
air humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
Even if the unit is switched off, the AC/AC
adaptor connected to the mains has a low
power consumption.
Do not take the unit into operation or imme-
diately take the AC/AC adaptor out of the
mains socket if:
1. damage at the unit or AC/AC adaptor can
be seen,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop
or similar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit resp. the AC/AC adaptor must in any
case be repaired by authorized skilled per-
sonnel.
No guarantee claims for the unit or the AC/AC
adaptor and no liability for any resulting per-
sonal damage or material damage will be ac-
cepted if they are used for other purposes
than originally intended, if they are not cor-
rectly connected, operated, or not repaired in
an expert way.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth. Do not
use any chemicals or water.
If the unit and the AC/AC adaptor are to
be put out of operation definitively, they
must be disposed of in a local recycling
plant.
Never throw exhausted batteries or defective recharge-
able batteries into the household rubbish: Always take
them to a special waste disposal (e. g. collecting con-
tainer at your retailer).
3 Applications
The MPA-102 is a microphone preamplifier in
low noise semiconductor technique to be used
on the stage and in the sound recording studio
as well as for home recording and multimedia
applications.
The unit has a balanced XLR microphone
input and a servobalanced XLR line output. The
amplified microphone signal can additionally be
taken off at a stereo line output or may be
added to a fed-through stereo line signal.
4 Connecting the Unit
The
microphone
switched off if connections to other units are
going to be made resp. changed.
1) The power supply of the microphone pre-
amplifier is either via the provided AC/AC
adaptor (15 V~) or – for the mobile use
of the unit – via four 9 V transistor batteries.
The inserted batteries are disconnected
during power supply via the AC/AC adaptor.
- For supplying the unit via the AC/AC a-
daptor, connect the adaptor to the jack (9).
- For battery operation remove the four
screws at the bottom housing of the unit.
Connect the battery poles to the "I"-shaped
battery snaps of the unit. Insert the bat-
teries into the battery fixture. Mount the
bottom housing and fasten it. If the unit will
