Connecting the Contactor and Signal Generator

Damage to signal generators due to voltage at the switching input
The switching inputs are intended for the connection of potential-free signal generators such as switches and ripple
control receivers suitable for 24 V DC. Unsuitable signal generators may be overloaded when a voltage of
24 V DC is applied to the signal input. The signal generators may be damaged due to overload.
• Ensure that the signal generator is suitable for voltages of 24 V DC.
• Ensure that the signal generator is potential-free.
The switching inputs and outputs for contactors and signal generators can be configured via the user interface. Each
access must be assigned either a switching input or a switching output function:
• The switching outputs function as coupling relays with potential-free contacts.
• Switching inputs supply 24 V DC. This means that you can connect potential-free signal generators (e.g. circuit
breaker or ripple control receiver) to the switching inputs without an additional voltage source.

Requirements for connecting a contactor:
• The contactor must be suitable for connection to multifunctional switching outputs (see Section 11, page 32).
• Maximum switching voltage: 30 V DC
• Limiting continuous current: 4 A DC
• Maximum switching current: 4 A DC
• Minimum load recommended: 10 V DC / 10 mA; 24 V DC / 1 mA
Requirements for connecting a signal generator:
☐ The external feedback contact must be able to switch a switching current less than 10 mA at 24 V.
