SMA Solar Technology AG
• Terminal of AC supply voltage (230 V AC)
• Terminal of DC supply voltage (24 V DC or 48 V DC or 110 V DC)
Note the information on the type label of the product.
Requirements:
☐ The supply voltage must be protected by an external miniature circuit breaker type B16A or by an external
branch circuit breaker in accordance with local laws, regulations, codes and standards (e.g. National Electrical
Code® ANSI/NFPA 70 or Canadian Electrical Code® CSA-C22.1.).
☐ In TT systems, the supply voltage must be additionally protected by means of a residual-current device.
☐ When a DC supply voltage is connected, the negative terminal of the DC supply voltage must be grounded.
Cable requirements:
☐ Number of insulated conductors: 3 (incl. grounding conductors)
☐ Conductor cross-section for rigid cables: 1.5 mm² to 4 mm² (16 AWG to 12 AWG)
☐ Conductor cross-section for flexible cables: 1.5 mm² to 2.5 mm² (16 AWG to 14 AWG) (when using bootlace
ferrules)
☐ The cable must also include a grounding conductor.
☐ The cable must be suitable for the local grid voltage and external fusing.
Danger to life due to electric shock when live components or cables are touched
High voltages are present in the conductive components or cables of the product. Touching live parts and cables
results in death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.
• Do not touch non-insulated parts or cables.
• Disconnect the product from voltage sources and make sure it cannot be reconnected before working on the
device.
• Observe all safety information on components associated with the product.
• Wear suitable personal protective equipment for all work on the product.
• Always perform all work in accordance with the locally applicable standards, directives and laws.
• Cover or isolate all live components.
Terminal of AC supply voltage
A supply voltage of 230 V AC can be connected. Note the information on the type label of the product.
Procedure:
1. Insert the cable into the product (see Section 6.5.1, page 22).
2. Connect the insulated conductors to the terminal block (see Section 6.5.2, page 23):
• Connect the line conductor to terminal block X1 terminal 1.
• Connect the neutral conductor to terminal block X1 terminal 2.
• Connect the grounding conductor to terminal block X1 terminal 3.
3. Ensure that the insulated conductors are firmly in place.
Terminal of DC supply voltage
A supply voltage of 24 V DC or 48 V DC or 110 V DC can be connected. Note the information on the type label of
the product.
