INTRODUCTION
The Gravity Heat Transfer systems (HMGW) are designed to
be installed in conjunction with the Empire Comfort Systems
specified fireplaces, to redirect the amount of heat produced
during the operation of the fireplace. When installed, the
Heat Transfer system through convective air flow, will reduce
a certain percentage of the heat expelled directly out of the
fireplace, thus reducing the temperatures of the wall above
the fireplace.
LOCATING THE GRAVITY HEAT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
1. Determine the location of the HMGW Heat Transfer
body assembly in relationship to the fireplace. Various

alternate locations are shown by Figures 1 – Heat
discharged directly above the fireplace, or Figures 2
and 3 – Heat discharged rearward to another room.
2. The HMGW Heat Transfer includes 10' foot of Flex duct
when stretched out fully. In most cases, when this flex duct
is cut in half, there should be enough flex to complete the
installation. However, depending on the vertical distance
from the top of the fireplace, or when mounted at an
angle from the fireplace as shown by Figure 3 to the Heat
Transfer Body Adaptor Collars, additional flex venting may
be needed, and must be purchased separately.
