Setting the waveform (sine, triangle and square wave signal)
Using the horizontal cross button (4) the waveform can be selected.
Each press of the button „left" or „right" switches between waveforms. The current waveform is
shown in the display in the line „Mode" .
Every change is marked with an asterisk (*) in the display. If the cross button is not used for
longer than 20 seconds the device saves the changes in the internal, non-volatile memory.
Stepwise setting the output frequency
Using the vertical cross button (4) the output frequency can be selected.
Every time the buttons „up" or „down" are pressed, the frequency is stepped by 1 Hz.
If the button is kept pressed for a longer time, a quick adjustment is performed. The current
frequency is shown in the display in the line „FRQ="
Directly setting the output frequency
The frequency can also be entered directly for every decimal place. To do so, press the centre
of the cross button. A setup menu opens. Select the appropriate decimal using the cross
button (left/right); it is marked by a flashing symbol.
Change the value of the decimal using the cross button (up/down). After setting the correct
frequency, confirm your input by pressing the centre of the cross button („Enter"). The set menu
closes.
Setting the amplitude
The output voltage for the sine or the triangle wave can be set using the rotary knob „AMPLI-
TUDE" (5).
For the waveform „square/TTL" this rotary knob is not needed. Set it to middle position for the
waveform TTL.
Setting the offset voltage/pulse width
For the sine and the triangle wave the offset adjustment is done using the „OFFSET" control
(6).
When using „TTL signal (square wave)" this control has a different function. In this case, the
„OFFSET" control is used to set the pulse width for the TTL signal.
Connecting the measuring leads
Only use measuring accessories suited to the specifications of the generator
(e.g. impedance 50 Ohm).
The BNC output is voltage-free. Do not apply and external voltage to the BNC
socket.
Never short-circuit the signal output.
Signal lines must be shielded and must not exceed a total length of 3 metres.
Ensure a good earth contact.
Connect the BNC measurement lead to the BNC output socket „OUTPUT" (7) and lock the
bayonet connector.
Contact the circuit with the other end of the measurement lead.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Apart from occasional cleaning this device is maintenance-free.
Use a dry, clean, lint-free, antistatic cloth to clean the device. Do not use any abrasive or chem-
ical agents or detergents containing solvents.
Always unplug the mains plug from the mains socket before cleaning the unit.
Troubleshooting
By purchasing waveform generator you have acquired a product with state of the art design that
is operationally reliable. Nevertheless, problems or faults may occur. Which is why we would
like to describe here how to solve any problems:
Always follow the safety instructions!
Problem
Solution
The operation indicator
No main's voltage?
does not flash.
• Check the safety switch for the mains socket
• Check whether the mains plug is seated correctly in the
mains socket
• Is the power switch locked in position „I"
No or only very
Is the output overloaded (too low impedance)?
low output signal
Is the amplitude set too low? Increase the signal voltage using
the rotary knob „AMPLITUDE".
The output signal
The measuring circuit has a higher impedance.
is slightly distorted
If necessary, use a 50 Ohm resistance
output.
in order to adjust the circuit impedance.
Repairs, other than those just described, should only be carried out by an
authorised specialist. Check the technical safety of the device on a regular
basis e.g. for damage to the housing etc. Any changes and repairs you make
on the device will render the guarantee/warranty null and void.
Disposal
Electronic products are raw material and do not belong in the household waste.
When the device has reached the end of its service life, please dispose of it,
according to the current statutory requirements, at your local collecting site.
Disposal in the domestic waste is not permitted!
