5 Fitting Advice

The instructions in this section are for practitioner use only.
Springs are supplied as matched sets i.e. the shin/toe and heel springs are designed to work
together to give smooth progression for most users.
Condition
Symptoms
Heel too soft
Sinking at heel strike
Heel too hard
Rapid transition from heel strike
through stance phase
Difficulty in controlling heel
action, foot jars into mid-stance
Toe too soft
Rapid progression through mid-
stance
Drop-off during running
Toe too hard
Feels like climbing over toe
Please contact your supplier if it is not possible to achieve a smooth gait after following the
recommendations above.

6 Maintenance

Visually inspect the device before any activity, especially the condition of the sole and toe spring,
and the tightness of the sole spring bolts.
Excessive wear of the sole cover could lead to loss of grip. Do not use if the sole cover is
excessively worn, torn or loose.
Excessive wear or damage to the spring elements could lead to structural failure.
Report any changes in performance of this device to the practitioner/service provider e.g.
reduced energy return, unusual noises, softening of the toe and/or heel, or significant wear.
Inform the practitioner/service provider of any changes in body weight and/or activity level.
Cleaning
Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the outside surfaces. DO NOT use aggressive cleansers.
Thoroughly dry before use.
The remaining instructions in this section are for practitioner use only.
Advise the user that the device should not be used if the sole cover is excessively worn, torn or
loose. The user should also be advised to visually inspect this device especially the condition of
the heel and toe springs before any activity.
Remedy
1. Add heel wedge
2. Slide socket anteriorly
1. Remove heel wedge (if fitted)
2. Slide socket posteriorly
3. Order a softer Heel Spring
