- For best results and to ensure an optimum build
up of pressure ensure that the blocked pipe and
the sink/basin/bath are full of water. Any leftover
air in the waste pipe will severely reduce the
pressure.
- Close the overflow in the sink/basin/bath (as
well as any other openings in the same pipe
system) and fill the sink/basin/bath with approx.
5-8 cm of warm water. Make certain that any
overflows etc. or blocked. Use a damp cloth or
similar.
Make certain that the waste trap is supported to
prevent the risk of damage. Use an upside-down
waste bin or bucket, a crate or a strong box.
- Now pump the handle a few times to build up pressure. Subsequently pull the trigger. In
order to prevent the risk of damage, use only low pressure at first.
- If you are unable to clear the blockage using moderate pressure, first check that your
waste pipe's joints are secure before slowly increasing pressure and repeatedly pulling
the trigger until the blockage is clear.
Note:
Failure to clear the blockage to your satisfaction using the pump action pipe unblocker
may be caused by a very stubborn blockage or by a blockage in a deeper part of the
pipe system.
In this case it is advisable to call a plumber.
