FUEL CONVERSION KIT FOR MODEL BHD4 / CBHD4
This conversion kit shall be installed by a qualifi ed service agency in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and all
applicable codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. If the information in these instructions is not followed
exactly, a fi re, explosion or production of carbon monoxide may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
The qualifi ed service agency is responsible for the proper installation of this kit. The installation is not proper and complete until
the operation of the converted appliance is checked as specifi ed in the owner instructions supplied with the kit.
Kit W175-0384, Propane to Natural Gas, includes:

WARNING: Failure to position the parts in accordance with these
diagrams or failure to use only parts specifi cally approved with this
appliance may result in property damage or personal injury.
CAUTION: Before proceeding with conversion the gas supply must be
shut off prior to disconnecting the electrical power.
1. Remove the safety screen from the appliance by lifting it up and out of the
bottom retainer then pivoting down and out of the top retainer.
2. Loosen the three screws securing the top screen retainer then pull the
retainer forward and away from the appliance.
3. Using the tool provided remove the main door from the appliance. There
are two latches across the top of each side door. Pull the latches forward and
outwards, out of the slot in the door,
as shown. Ensure to keep one hand
on the door at all times, to prevent
it from falling on the fl oor. When all
latches have been released tilt the
door forward and out of the bottom
door retainer.
4. Remove the burner from the appliance as described below.
4a. LOG VERSION - Carefully remove the
logs and hearth pads from the appliance.
Remove the four screws that secure the burner
in place, as shown then slide the burner off
the orifi ce and lift the burner up and out of the
appliance.
4b. CRADLE VERSION - Carefully remove
'
the rocks and/or glass from the appliance
(use a vacuum, with a clean bag, to remove
the glass media from the appliance).
Remove the four screws that secure the
cradle in place, then lift it up and out of the
appliance, as shown.
Lift the media tray out of the appliance,
then remove the four screws that secure
the burner in place, as shown then slide the
burner off the orifi ce and lift the burner up and
out of the appliance.
4c. GLASS VERSION - Use a vacuum,
with a clean bag, to remove the glass media
from the appliance. Remove the 12 screws
securing the media tray in place and then lift
the media tray up and out of the appliance.
Remove the four screws that secure the burner
in place, as shown then slide the burner off
the orifi ce and lift the burner up and out of the
appliance.

5. Remove the panel cover from the appliance
by lifting it up using the two fi nger holes then
remove the control panel cover by lifting it up
and off of the four shoulder screws, as shown.
6. Remove the orifi ce and replace with the
orifi ce supplied. (Use pipe thread compound
when installing new orifi ce).
7. Adjust the air shutter according to the table
located on the back of this page.
8. To convert the main valve to the desired fuel, follow the instructions
that are supplied with the SIT regulator assembly.
9. Loosen the pilot hood until the conversion tab slides easily. Slide
the tab to the fuel desired. NOTE: The tab is
marked with NG or P. Tighten the pilot hood
back to original position.
10. The conversion data label must be fi lled out
and attached adjacent to the valve.
11. Turn on the gas supply and check for gas
leaks by brushing on a soap and water solution.
Do not use open fl ame.
12. Reinstall the control panel cover by placing it
back onto the four shoulder screws, then reinstall
the panel cover by lowering it into position using the two fi nger holes.
13. Re-install the burner, reverse step 4 for installation instructions.
14. Light the pilot and main burner to ensure that the gas lines have
been purged. Refer to the lighting instructions in your fi replace installation
manual.
15. Once all systems have been checked, reinstall the remaining media
into the appliance, refer to your installation manual for the installation
instructions.
Purge all gas lines with the glass door off.
Assure that a continuous fl ow is at the burner before replacing
the door.
16. Reinstall the door, secure in place using the two top latch
mechanisms. Inspect the relief system, ensure the door opens freely and
closes sealed.
17. Reinstall the top screen retainer back into position and secure in place
using the three previously loosened screws.
18. Reinstall the safety screen by placing it into the top screen retainer
and pivoting it into the bottom screen retainer.
