1.2 Select Mount Location
WARNING
ALWAYS choose a mounting location that is sufficiently strong to withstand the maximum pull-
ing capacity of your winch.
1.2.1 Mounting Configurations
The pay-out direction for wire rope / synthetic rope and the correct methods for mounting the winch
vary according to the different winch models (see page 9). When mounting the winch foot forward,
wind the rope from the top or bottom of the drum towards the direction of the mounting base plate.
See Figure 1 page 9. When mounting the winch foot down, wind the rope from the bottom of the
drum. See Figure 2, page 9.
1.2.2 Winch and fairlead mounting considerations
WARNING
ALWAYS position fairlead with warning readily visible on top.
1. Your mounting surface must be equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame.
2. Make sure the motor, drum and gearbox housing are aligned correctly.
3. The fairlead does not mount directly to the winch.
4. The wire/synthetic rope shall be wound in accordance with Table 5, page 9.
