Building instructions
Before you start gluing parts together, use a servo tester or the radio control system to
check that the servos are working properly.
Connect the servo leads to the extension leads. Apply epoxy to the whole surface of the
wing root facing ribs and glue the wings to the fuselage, lining them up carefully with the
root fairings on the fuselage.
Wipe off excess epoxy with methylated spirit ("meths") on a piece of paper towel. Tape
the parts together and leave the epoxy to set hard.
Glue the tailplane panels, fins and nose cone to the fuselage using the same procedure.
Locate the prepared undercarriage leg units and insert them in the sockets in the wings;
push them in until they snap into place.
Fit the noseleg unit in the aluminium sleeve, set the nosewheel steering servo to centre,
then tighten the grubscrews firmly. Secure each screw with a drop of UHU thread-lock
fluid, Order No. 952.
Open up the linkage hole in the elevator servo output arm to 1.3 mm Ø and connect the
elevator pushrod to it. Set the servo to centre. Screw the clevis onto the threaded
pushrod end and adjust the pushrod length so that the elevator lies flush with the
tailplane when the horn is connected.
Peel off the decals from the backing film and apply them to the model in the
arrangement shown in the kit box illustration.
Connect the servo leads to the receiver in the correct sequence, and fix the receiver to
one fuselage side below the battery well as shown in the photo, using double-sided foam
tape. Deploy the aerial lead along the fuselage. We recommend that you use an SPCM
receiver in this model.
You may need to cut away a little plastic at the nose to provide space for the flight
battery, as shown in the picture.
We recommend the LiPo flight battery Order No. 7643.3. Push it into the battery
compartment and lock the hatch in place by swivelling the turnbuckles.
To complete the model you may wish to attach the sidewinder missiles to the
supplementary fueltank pylons: cut a longitudinal slot in the Sidewinder using a sharp
knife (Order No. 14.2); the slot should be the same length as the plastic support. Fit the
support through the supplementary fueltank pylon, push or glue the missile on the
support, then glue the supplementary tank pylon to the recess in the wing.
Control surface travels
- Elevator travel relative to centre: +/- 10 mm, 25% Expo
- Aileron travel relative to centre: +/- 8 mm, 15% Expo
