2. Take the charcoal filter (B3) ( K ) out of the plastic bag.
3. Install the charcoal filter (B3) ( K ) by mounting the filter
clamp (B4) ( M ).
REMOTE CONTROL (Removable) (A1)
NOTE: This remote control can be stored on the top of the unit.
1. INSERTING BATTERIES
Remove the cover on the back of the remote con-
trol and insert the batteries with the ( + ) and ( - )
poles pointing in the proper direction. (Fig. H)
CAUTION
¡ Use only AAA or IEC R03 1.5V batteries
¡ DO NOT attempt to recharge the supplied batteries.
¡ All batteries should be replaced at the same time.
¡ DO NOT dispose of the batteries in a fire as they may explode.
¡ DO NOT install the batteries with the polarity (+/-) reversed.
¡ Keep batteries and other things that could be swallowed
away from young children. Contact a doctor immediately
if an object is swallowed.
NOTE:
¡ The Remote Control is to be carefully used. If the remote
Control is dropped to the floor or spilled with water, it
may not be able to transmit the signal to the unit.
¡ The maximum signal range is about 23 ft. (7 m) (front).
¡ When operating, point the remote con-
trol toward the signal receiver of the
unit.
¡ Do not allow any obstacle between the
signal sending head and the signal re-
ceiver.
¡ If the Remote Control operation does not actuate the
unit, replace both two batteries (R03) with the new ones.
If the operation of the unit is still not normal, remove
batteries and, after an elapse of more than 5 seconds, re-
turn them into the Remote control.
¡ The estimated life of the battery is approximately one
year, if used with the normal condition, provided that
the battery of which service period is close to "recom-
mended using period" will have to be replaced shortly.
¡ The use of the wrong batteries may cause such dangers
as liquid leakage and collapse. Carefully read the precau-
tions provided on the battery and take special care of the
following points for use.
• Care is to be taken not to mix old and new batteries nor
to use the wrong kinds.
• If the Remote control is not used for long time (more
than one month), remove the batteries from it. Should
any liquid leakage be caused, remove the leakage com-
pletely and replace with the new batteries.

RESET: AFTER SOLVING THE PROBLEM
OPERATING STEPS:
1. DIRECT OPEN AIR OUTLET GRILLE UPWARD UNTIL IT
LOCKS.
You can select the two levels, wide or narrow.
WARNING: Never use with closed air outlet grille.
2. PRESS POWER BUTTON (C1) TO "ON".
The unit starts the operation.
3. PRESS MODE BUTTON (C3).
Press the mode button (C3) to set your desired operation
mode "COOL", "HEATING", "DEHUMIDIFY", "FAN" or "AUTO".
COOLING Mode
During the "COOL" mode the air is cooled and hot air is exhaust-
ed to the outside air through the exhaust duct hoses. Adjust fan
speed and temperature to suit your desired comfort level.
NOTE: The exhaust duct hoses must vent outside the room
when using Cooling Mode.
HEATING Mode (TAD-T32JW only)
The "HEATING" mode of this unit works on the heat pump
principle. This makes it more efficient than a normal electric
heater. The "HEATING" mode can only be activated when
the ambient temperature is below 81˚F (27˚C). Depending on
the outside temperature, the unit will stop heating regularly
in order to thaw ice that has accumulated. The lower the
outside temperature, the more frequently this will occur. In
this mode, the desired temperature can be set between 61˚F
(16˚C) and 81˚F (27˚C).
NOTE: When the unit is in "HEATING" mode, both exhaust
duct hoses must be connected and led outside.
To prevent damage to the unit, changing from the
cooling or dehumidifying mode to the heating mode
(or the reverse) takes two to three minutes.
DEHUMIDIFYING Mode
Air is dehumidified as it passes through the unit, without
being in full cooling mode.
The fan will operate in "Auto" mode. Fan speed is not ad-
justable in Dehumidifying mode operation.
FAN Mode
The "FAN" mode provides only circulation of room air, so
that you cannot set the room temperature.
NOTE: The unit does not need to be vented in Fan mode.
AUTO Mode
To turn on the unit chooses "Auto" mode. The unit will
switch its operation mode and fan speed automatically
based on the environment temperature.
4. SET TEMPERATURE
Set the desired room temperature by pressing UP button
"▲" (C9) or DOWN button "▼" (C4). The setting range is from
64˚F (18˚C) to 90˚F (32˚C) (TAD-T32JW (Heating Mode): 61˚F
(16˚C) to 81˚F (27˚C)). The display is set temperature only.
NOTE: When choosing AUTO, DEHUMIDIFY or FAN MODE,
temperature setting button is invalid.
5. SET FAN SPEED
