FITTING
It is essential to fully comply with the instructions for fitting and removing the socks as stated in these instruc-
tions. Pay attention to fingers, hands and hair when fitting and removing your snow chains to avoid any risk
of injury. Use the gloves provided. Keep away from the wheel as soon as it is fitted with the sock and when in
motion. If the vehicle is fitted with an anti-slip system (ETS, ASR, ESP, DSC, etc.) do not disable it.
FITTING
Stop the vehicle on flat ground and apply the handbrake. Always park the vehicle where conditions allow fitting
snow socks in safe conditions. Place the warning triangle. Wear a fluorescent high visibility vest, day or night, so
that other road users can see you.
1. Place both hands on the flat inner elastic strip. Pull the SOS Grip® Evolution snow sock over the wheel,
starting from the top of the tyre, taking care to position the flat inner elastic strip smoothly against the inside
of the tyre.
2. Place your hands inside the snow sock to finish fitting it, adjusting first one side then the other. Place your
right hand inside the right side of the sock to properly accompany sock placement. Then repeat the process
with the left hand inside the left side of the sock.
3. Then position the flat elastic strip at the bottom of the wheel, placing your hands inside so that the sock is
placed between the tyre and the ground.
Slowly move the vehicle to turn the wheel by a quarter turn (the tyres should not slip).
4. Place your hands between the top of the tyre and the snow sock to finish pulling it over the wheel. The flat
elastic strip must be smooth against the inside of the tyre avoiding any twists. Use the outside handles to
adjust centring.
Check: once installed, make sure that the snow sock does not catch the shock absorber and that no part of
it is in contact with vehicle parts, even with the front wheels turned to full lock.
5. Then the snow sock is properly fitted. Once fitted on the wheels, MICHELIN SOS Grip® Evolution snow socks
will centre themselves perfectly after a few hundred metres. Start off slowly and accelerate progressively.
Make sure that the product is in place properly after travelling some 200 metres. Avoid rough starting,
acceleration and braking.
Never exceed 50 km/h on snow covered roads.
AFTER FITTING
Check the fitting and condition of your textile snow socks after driving for 20 kilometres and also after emergen-
cy braking or after contact with road borders. If your textile snow socks are not removed on roads that are clear
of snow, they must also be checked after driving no more than 5 kilometres.
Before prolonged parking, always remove your textile snow socks to stop them freezing onto your
vehicle's wheels making their removal harder.
REMOVAL
Stop the vehicle on flat ground and apply the handbrake.
1. Grab the textile snow socks by the outside handles, starting from the top, and pull them firmly towards you.
Slide the entire sock towards the front of the tyre and onto the ground.
2. Move the vehicle forward or backwards by a metre to retrieve the sock from the ground.
AFTER REMOVAL
Care: Let your snow socks dry after use before returning them to their carrier bag with this instruction sheet.
Store your snow socks in a dry location and protect them from any contact with chemicals (petrol, acid, heat).
You can wash them with fresh water after use. Never machine wash. Never wash or store them at temperatures
in excess of 50°C.
