Cleaning and Care

PLEASE NOTE
■ Always pull out the mains plug and allow the device to cool down before cleaning it.
■ The device and accessories are not dishwasher-safe.
■ Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning sprays, rough
sponges or metal objects to clean the device. These may damage the surface.
Regularly empty the crumb tray (8):
1. Carefully pull out the crumb tray.
2. Remove the crumbs and wipe the crumb tray with a damp cloth if necessary or rinse
it under running water with mild detergent.
3. Then thoroughly dry the crumb tray and reinsert it.
Wipe down the outside of the device with a clean, slightly damp cloth. Use mild cleaning
agent if necessary.

Troubleshooting

If the device does not work properly, fi rst check whether you are able to rectify the prob-
lem yourself. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps below, contact the customer
service department.
Do not attempt to repair an electrical device yourself!
Problem
The device can-
not be switched
on.
The bread gets
stuck in the
device.
A lot of smoke is
produced.
Possible cause
The mains plug is not in-
serted correctly in the plug
socket.
The plug socket is defective.
There is no mains voltage.
The bread is tilted.
The bread slices may be too
thick.
The crumb tray (8) is full.

Solution
Correct the fi t of the mains plug.
Try another plug socket.
Check the fuse of the electrical
distributor.
Pull the mains plug out of the
plug socket and allow the toaster
to cool down. Move the lowering
lever (2) up and down a few times
to release bread which is stuck.
Use bread which is cut into thin-
ner slices.
Pull the mains plug out of the plug
socket and allow the toaster to
cool down. Clean the crumb tray.
