The device must always be disconnected from the mains power
■
when it is left unattended and before assembling, disassem-
bling and cleaning the device.
In the interest of your own safety, inspect the device and the
■
connecting cable for damage each time before you use it. Use
the device only if it is in working order.
If the device or the connecting cable of the device are damaged,
■
they must be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service
department or a similarly qualifi ed person (e. g. specialist work-
shop) in order to avoid any hazards.
It is essential to follow the cleaning instructions in the "Cleaning
■
and Care" chapter!
DANGER – Danger of Electric Shock

Use the device only in closed rooms.
■
Do not use the device in rooms with high humidity.
■
Never immerse the device, mains cable or mains plug in water or other liquids and
ensure that these components cannot fall into water or become wet.
■
Should the device fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not at-
tempt to pull the device out of the water when it is still connected to the mains power!
■
Never touch the device and the connecting cable with wet hands when the device is
connected to the mains power.
■
Do not stick any metal objects (e .g. knife, tools etc.) into the toaster, because they
may cause an electric shock / short circuit.
WARNING – Danger of Fire

Do not use the device in rooms containing easily ignitable or explosive substances.
Never operate the device in the vicinity of a gas source.
■
Do not place any combustible materials (e. g. cardboard, paper, wood or plastic) in
the device.
■
Only toast unpackaged bread/pastry products.
■
Do not cover the toasting slots, either with bread rolls or bread slices, or with other
objects such as cutlery during operation.
■
Only use the device with the crumb tray inserted and empty the tray regularly.
■
Only toast bread and pastry goods without a spread or topping of butter, sugar or
other foodstuff s.
■
Do not toast pastry products which could melt. The device could be damaged by food
which has melted or catch fi re!
■
Only use suitable bread/pastry products. Do not toast any extremely dry baked goods
such as crispbread as they can easily catch fi re.
■
If bread or parts of the device catch fi re, do not try to extinguish them with water under
any circumstances. Remove the plug from the socket and smother the fl ames with a
fi re blanket or a suitable fi re extinguisher.
