Distance dependency of UV radiation
In general the distance to UV lamps is very important as every lamp has an area in which it is working
perfect. Outside this area the UV and heat performance can be too high or too low. In addition a too small
distance to a surface can overheat the lamp and cause it to fail quickly.
We are given specific advice for the optimal use of each model on the packaging with clearly arranged
graphics.

Please consider that the UV amount on the illuminated surface will be heavily dependent on the distance
to the lamp. Reducing the distance by half will quadruble the UV amount and vice versa. At 20 cm the UV
performance is 4 times higher than at 40 cm. For this reason you should consider our distance recommen-
dations for the safety of your animals.
It also has to be considered that the temperature must be right. The Bright Sun was designed in order that
each model has distance area in which UV and temperature fit perfectly together.
You will find more information for each model in the following chart.
In addition you can calculate the UV performance in relation to multiple distances with our UV Calculator.
