OPERATING MANUAL & PARTS LIST FOR 791-7140
BEFORE USE
Open reservoir vent screw (top screw) 2 full turns to vent.
Check to see if oil level is up to the filler hole (lower screw). Fill
if necessary with clean hydraulic jack oil. NOTE: jack will not
operate properly unless vented and filled with oil. Sometimes
during shipment and handling air gets into the hydraulic system,
causing poor lifting performance.
Bleeding the pump: with release lever down, pump pedal
several times to force excess air from the piston area. It should
then be possible to raise the ram with normal foot pedal
action.
Bleeding the ram: With ram in down position, loosen the
slotted set screw found in top brass collar. Pump foot pedal until
oil begins to leak out the set screw hole. Tighten set screw.
INSPECTION
Visual inspection should be made before each use
of the transmission jack, checking for leaking hydraulic
fluid and damaged, loose or missing parts. Each jack
must be inspected by a manufacturer's repair facility
immediately, if subjected to an abnormal load or shock.
Any jack which appears to be damaged in any way, is
found to be badly worn, or operates abnormally MUST
BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE until necessary repairs are
made by a manufacturer's authorized repair facility. It is
recommended that an annual inspection of the jack be made
by a manufacturer's authorized repair facility and that any
defective parts, decals or warning labels be replaced with
manufacturer's specified parts.
A list of authorized repair facilities is available from the
manufacturer.
MAINTENANCE
1. Regularly lubricate all moving parts using SAE30 oil,
paying close attention to the tilt screws and related
linkages.
2. Regularly check the oil level in ram. With the saddle
in the lowest position, the oil level should be up to
the filler screw hole. Use hydraulic jack oil(NAPA #765-
1541 or equivalent); do not use hydraulic brake
fluid.
3. If jack fails to operate–check oil level and/or bleed
air from unit.

ASSEMBLY
1. Before using jack for the first time, some assembly
is required. Place hydraulic unit in upright position
and bolt legs to base using (4) 1/2" internal tooth
lock washers.
2. Assemble casters to legs using (4) 5/16" x 3/4"
hex bolts and (4) 5/16" nyloc locknuts.
3. Attach fingers to saddle using (4) 7/16" x 1 1/4"
bolts, (4) 7/16" washers and (4) 7/16" hex nuts
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Before attempting to raise a vehicle, check vehicle
service manual for recommended lifting surfaces.
1. To lift load, pump lever to raise saddle to desired height to
contact transmission.
2. Always position the jack so the weight of the load is
equally distributed on the saddle.
3. To tilt lifting head, manipulate the appropriate knobs (there
are two) located under the lifting head.
4. Position corner support brackets and secure the load with
chain.
5. Attach eyebolt to the bracket on the side of the saddle.
6. Insert J bolt through the eyebolt and attach the wing nut to
the first couple of threads on the J bolt.
7. The chain should be pulled over the load securely and
engaged into slot on the opposite side of the saddle, then
tighten wing.
8. To lower the jack, slowly open release valve. Insure that
load is lowered slowly.
