Positioning
For
the
earliest
warning,
smoke alarms are fitted in all rooms where
the temperature is between 4°C (40°F) & 38°C
(100°F).
WARNING: Prolonged exposure to temperatures
outside those stated above will reduce product
life.
Smoke alarms should be sited at least 300mm
from light fittings & walls. Ideally as central as
possible in the room.
Smoke alarms should be positioned at no more
than 600mm vertically below the highest point in
the room.
If positioning your smoke alarm on the wall, the
top of the detection element must be between
150mm & 300mm below the ceiling, & at least
300mm from a wall.
Thermoptek smoke alarms are less prone to false
alarms from cooking fumes & are therefore suitable
for locating near kitchens. Like other smoke alarms,
they can be subject to nuisance alarms from steam
& should not be placed near bathrooms.
IMPORTANT: Check with local building and
fire regulations for your property, to ensure
compliance.
Mobile Homes & Caravans
This smoke alarm is suitable for use in mobile
homes & caravans.
Commercial & Industrial Premises
This smoke alarm is not intended for any non-
residential, commercial or industrial application,
nor for any other purpose than described above.

Alarm Smart Silence
Smoke alarms can react to cooking fumes or
other non emergency situations. Your alarm
features 'Smart Silence' technology. In the event
of
a known false alarm you can temporarily
silence it by pressing the Test button. Your alarm
will automatically return to full sensitivity after 10
minutes.
NOTE: If the level of smoke reaching the alarm is
very high the alarm silence will be overridden &
the alarm will continue to sound.
DANGER: Never ignore any alarm. If an alarm
is sounding, it is warning you of a potentially
hazardous situation. Do not ignore it. Ignoring the
alarm may result in injury or death. If your smoke
alarm activates & you are not absolutely certain
of the source of smoke, get everyone out of the
house immediately.
Sleep Easy
Your smoke alarm will still detect smoke during
the Sleep Easy mode but you must replace the
batteries within 30 days.
Low Battery
You can only silence the low battery warning chirp
for a maximum of 10 times. Replace the batteries
in your smoke alarm immediately to ensure
protection in case of fire.
Alarm Fault
If the escape light fails to shine or the alarm does
not sound during your weekly test the alarm
may have developed a fault. A fault is indicated
when the red LED flashes at a separate time from
the chirp. If within warranty contact Technical
Support. Otherwise replace alarm immediately.
