Mount wind vane
Push the wind vane onto the shaft on the opposite side of the wind vanes until
it stops moving, as shown on the left in figure 6. Then tighten the set screw
with a Phillips screwdriver as shown on the right until the wind vane can no
longer be removed from the axle. Make sure that the wind vane can rotate
freely. The movement of the wind vane has low friction, which is helpful when
performing continuous wind direction measurements.
Insert batteries
Open the battery compartment with a screwdriver and insert 2 AA batteries
into the battery compartment. The LED indicator on the back of the sensor
pack lights up for four seconds and then flashes once every 48 seconds,
indicating sensor data transmission (sensor transmission update period).
