The plate and U-bolts are not needed at this stage, but if you do this now, you
can avoid damaging wind vanes and wind speed cups later. Handling the sensor
package with wind vane and speed buckets installed to mount these screws is
more difficult and more likely to cause damage.
Install wind speed buckets
Slide the wind cups onto the shaft on top of the sensor pack as shown in figure
5 on the left. Tighten the set screw with a Phillips screwdriver (size PH0) as
shown on the right. Make sure that the cup arrangement can rotate freely.
There should be no noticeable friction when turning.
