1.4 - CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
The amplifier has 4-pin and 2-clip configuration links. The first ones determine the configuration by
their orientation (0, 45 or 90°) when are plugged in the sockets, and the second ones by their site in a
group of pins on the main board (ALSC/RW/INGRESS group).
The available configuration options are described below and the involved links are identified (see
Block Diagrams on page 13 and Fig. 1 on page 32):
1.4.1 - Forward Way Configuration
— RF Input. The positioning of 2 plug-in links (PE1 and PE2) allows to configurate the ampli-
fier without input bypass or with input bypass at -2.7 dB or -4.5 dB.
— Attenuation. The positioning of 2 plug-in links (PAF and PAA) provides different input atte-
nuation values (between 0 and 15 dB if additional preamplification is not implemented, or
between 0 and 6 dB if it is).
— Equalization/Cable Simulation. The positioning of 1 plug-in link (PSC) together with a
built-in variable equalizer allows to adjust an input equalization between -6 and 18 dB.
(The negative equalization, or reverse equalizer response, is usually necessary in short spa-
ced amplifiers).
— FW additional amplification. The positioning of 1 plug-in link (PAA) allows to implement
or not a 10 dB preamplification stage.
— Sloped Response. The positioning of 1 plug-in link (PPB) provides 0, 6 or 12 dB sloped
response.
— RF Output. The positioning of 2 plug-in links (PS1 and PS2) allows the amplifier to be
configurated with one RF putput port or two symmetrical or asymmetrical output ports.
1.4.2 - Reverse Way Configuration
— Interstage attenuation. The appropriate positioning of 2 plug-in links in the ALSC/RW/
INGRESS group allows to configurate a 0 or 6 dB interstage attenuation.
— Disabling. Other positioning of the same plug-in links allows to disable the return path.
1.4.3 - 'FW Input Test' Port Performing
Appropriate positioning of the mentioned PE1 and PE2 plug-in links allows the internal RW
output test to become transformed in a FW input test port.
1.4.4 - Power Configuration
Appropriate positioning of 4 plug-in links (S
