OPERATION
NOTE: READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO APPLYING POWER TO THE MPC2
1.
All MPC2 Control Panels require temperature sensors, with the options of Type-K, Type-J or RTDs. The panel
mounted jacks accept only mini-plugs. Hardwiring sensors is required for outdoor use or NEMA 4X requirements.
Use only the type of sensing devise ordered with your MPC2. Verify correct polarity of the sensor connection prior
to use.
2.
Place the temperature sensor tip between the surfaces to be heated and the heater to be controlled. The tip must
be placed in a location which best reflects the application. Depending on the object's size and shape, there may be
spots that are warmer or colder due to different thermal transfer parameters. If all areas of the object must reach a
minimum temperature, then place the sensor tip on the coldest spot. If the temperature of any area of the object
cannot go above the controller's set point, then place the sensor tip on the hottest spot. If a temperature differential
is allowable, then place the tip on an area where the temperature is between the hottest and coldest.
3.
Plug the power lead of the heater into the appropriate receptacle.
4.
Plug the sensing devise into the jack that corresponds to the zone that it is measuring.
5.
DO NOT APPLY POWER TO THE MPC2 UNTIL SENSORS ARE PROPERLY LOCATED.
6.
Push the green switch located on the front of the controller to the "ON" position. The green switch will latch into a
flush position and will illuminate.
7.
If separate Zone Controller Switches were ordered, enable rocker switches to turn on or off power to individual
zones.
8.
At first power on, the current PV and SV are displayed for each zone The controller will automatically apply to the
heater power if the SV is higher than the PV.
9.
Use the arrow keys
for each zone controller to adjust the setpoint.
10.
Press the
key once for Units. The temperature units can be changed between °F and °C by using the arrow
keys.
11.
To set the High Temperature Alarm, press the
the absolute temperature for alarm. The alarm temperature must be higher than the SV.
12.
To create and run Ramp and Soak Programs, see page 13 of this manual. To change the alarm type or any higher
level functions, please refer to document 40824-04 on the BriskHeat website.
The following sections contain programming instructions for common controller configurations. Consult BriskHeat
document 40524-04 for a complete description of all programming options and definitions.
Change Controller from PID to ON/OFF
1.
Press and hold the "F" key until PASS1 (Password 1) is on the screen. Using the arrow keys, adjust to 1.
2.
Press and release the "F" key until PID (PID Configuration) is on the screen.
3.
Press and release the DOWN arrow until S.TUNE (Self Tuning Enable) is on the screen.
4.
Press and release the "F" key until CNTR (Type of Control) is on the screen. Using the arrow keys, adjust to
H.ONOF
5.
Press and release the "F" key to accept the new value.
6.
Press and hold the Work Mode key until the Home screen appears.
Change the Alarm Configuration/Type
1.
Press and hold the "F" key until PASS1 (Password 1) is on the screen. Using the arrow keys, adjust to 1.
2.
Press and release the "F" key until ALARM (Alarm Configuration) is on the screen.
3.
Press the arrow key to select the number of the alarm you wish to configure, 1-4.
4.
Press and release the "F" key until A.r.x (Absolute/Relative Definition). "X" refers to the Alarm number selected in
#3 above. Use the arrow key to select either ABSLT for an Absolute Temperature Alarm or RELAT for a
Temperature Deviation Alarm.
