source before attempting to install, service or remove any component. If the power disconnect is out-of-sight, lock it in the
open position and tag it to prevent unexpected application of power.
Step 1
Carefully unpack the pump.
a) Save the packaging for use in winter storage and/or for use in the event of return for warranty.
Step 2
Placement of the unit.
a) NOTE: An alternative to anchoring the unit to the pond bottom is to moor the unit to the shore.
b) Prepare the float for anchoring/mooring
i. Cut two lengths of 1/4" polyethylene rope. If anchoring to the pond bottom, allow for approximately 3 feet of rope for
every foot of water depth (Figure 1). If mooring to the shore, allow for enough rope to reach from the intended float
location on the pond surface to a secure mooring location on the shore.
ii. A minimum of two anchoring/mooring ropes should be used, tied to two opposing corners of the float (Figure 3).
Insert one rope-end into one of the anchoring/mooring holes of the float and tie securely. Do the same on the
diagonally opposite corner. Only two opposing corners are needed to secure most applications (Figure 1).
However, if your application encounters strong windy conditions, anchoring/mooring three or more float
corners can reduce drifting of the unit during these conditions.
iii. Two 8" x 8" x 16" concrete building blocks (one per diagonally opposing corners) are commonly used as weights
for anchoring the unit. This type of anchor buries itself in the mud or lake bottom.
iv. Tie the opposite end of the ropes to separate concrete blocks in a secure manner.
