Problem(s)
Detector displays or sounds
false signals
Display does not show the
correct metal type when it

Detector sounds more than

Metal Detector
Possible Cause(s)
1. Sensitivity set too high.
2. Sweeping area too fast or
incorrect body position.
3. Heavily oxidized metal.
1. More than one piece
of metal.
2. Target may be a type of
metal that the detector
doesn't recognize.
3. Target is heavily rusted.
4. Sensitivity set too high.
1. Low Battery.
2. Connection is loose.
3. Not sensitive enough.
4. Improper search.
Suggested Solution(s)
1. Adjust sensitivity.
2. Sweep the search coil
slower and hold the
detector correctly.
3. Too much iron in any
given substance will
prevent detection.
1. Scan smaller area, using
short overlapping sweeps.
2. Adjust sensitivity,
ground and
discrimination settings.
3. This is not a malfunction.
4. Adjust sensitivity setting.
1. Replace battery.
2. Re-connect.
3. Adjust sensitivity settings.
