4. Place the brace around the torso so that the upper parts of the plastic elements are positioned above
the iliac crest.
5. Close the elastic support using the integrated hand straps.
6. Check the length of the grey straps, they may have to be tightened and shortened.
7. Close the lower grey fastener, then the upper grey fastener and check the correct fit of the brace. The
upper part of the plastic shell should be positioned well above the iliac crest.
8. Then lock the Boa fasteners by pressing the rotary knob in. If you hear a "click", the Boa is locked.
Stepless circumferential stabilisation can be set by turning it. You then feel the clear, circumferential
support of the plastic stabilisation elements.
Adaptation to the course of therapy
The BORT Stabilo lumbar back brace can be adapted to the course of therapy, the decision regarding this
is taken by the treating physician.
– Relief of the lumbar spine can be adjusted steplessly (see above).
– On the dorsal side, the lordosis reduction grade can be set by bending the aluminium splints which are
integrated in the pelvic girdle.
– During the course of therapy, it may become necessary to reduce the stabilising effect of the lumbar
brace. For this, remove the more rigid version of the splints from the externally attached splint bags on
the lumbar side of the body support. The more flexible splints can then be inserted.
– If stabilisation is no longer indicated by the plastic elements, they can be removed from the carrier
support which can then be worn as a normal support.
Removal
To remove the brace, unlock the Boa fasteners by pulling them out. To loosen the brace, the pulley from
the Boa fastener can be pulled out using the black flaps. Open the grey straps and the front fastening and
take the brace off.
