In accordance with the data published in technical information literature and the results of our own tests, the following
plastics and elastomers are compatible with the parts that enter into contact with them, the maximum temperatures
indicated should not be exceeded.
Butyl rubber
Fluorcarbon elastomers, e.g.
Natural rubber up to 80ºC
Nitrile rubber, e.g.
Olefin rubbre, e.g.
Polyacetal, e.g.
Polyamide
Polybuetene, e.g.
Poliéster resins
Polyethylene, low-density how density
Polypropylene, e.g.
Polytegrafluoroethylene, e.g. Hostaflon
Styrene butadiene rubber up to 100ºC
Silicone rubber, e.g.
Phenol-formaldehyde resins, plasticised PVC and polyurethene elastomers are not resistant. Experience has shown that
the seals known as IT (rubber-asbestos) and EPDM and aramio elastomers are suitable for these systems.
For sealing valves where hemp is used, Fermit or Fermitol (Nissen and Volk) or Loctite 511 (Loctite Corp) have been
successfully used.
Instructions for use
An ideal heat transfer fluid for solar systems subjected to high temperatures, particularly in vacuum pipes. Materials normally employed in solar systems
- such as copper, stainless steel and aluminium - are protected against corrosion by special inhibitors. For optimum protection follow the following
instructions:
1.
The systems should be constructed in accordance with the terms of Standard DIN 4757 and designed as a closed system. The pressure and
membrane and compensators must conform to Standard DIN 4807.
2.
The circuit must be cleaned with water before filling and the valves, pipes and pumps checked under pressure to avoid leaks.
3.
Hard solder joints preferable to soft. Traces of soldering or fluids (if possible chlorine free) must be cleaned by pumping water.
4.
Use of galvanised components should be avoided where possible due to the zinc not being resistant to the product and tending to dissolve,
which can leak and form mud. Filters may help in such cases.
5.
After checking circuit pressure, which also helps to determine the amount of water used, the system should be drained and filled again
immediately to eliminate air pockets.
6.
Long periods without operating the system can damage the stability of the heat transfer fluid and reduce its life.
7.
In the event of leaks, always fill the system with FRIGOSOL 50%. Avoid mixing it with other products. In exceptional cases, water can be used
to fill the system, fluid concentration (=freezing point) must be checked with a flowmeter. Anti-freeze protection must be for at least -20ºC
to ensure adequate protection against freezing and corrosion.
Fluid behaviour and inhibitor content must be checked approx. every 2 years. These indications are independent of the maintenance requires for solar
systems. It is not a hazardous substance according to transport regulations.
The product can be supplied in different containers. As zinc is not resistant to FRIGOSOL 50%, galvanised tanks cannot be used. The product has a
minimum working life of 2 years in its original container.
