1-3 Installation conditions

The Flex Branch Selector unit allows for design and installation in multiple configurations, details below
provide conditions for various configurations. Refer to Fig.1.
When installing in series configuration (pass through application):
Select the Flex Branch Selector unit that meets not only the maximum allowable capacity index per
Branch Selector unit (<A> - Sum of each unit's capacity index) but also the maximum allowable down-
stream capacity index, including the first Branch Selector unit in the series (<B> - Sum total of all indoor
unit capacities index connected in pass through) Refer to Table 1 and Table 2.
When installing in parallel configuration (non-pass through applications):
Refer to Table2. To obtain the capacity index of each indoor unit. Calculate the sum of capacity index
connected to the Flex Branch Selector unit. Refer to Table 1. To obtain the maximum allowable capacity
index per Branch Selector unit when used in non-pass through applications. Select the Flex Branch
Selector unit that can meet <C>.
<D> - The maximum allowable number of ports when Branch Selector units are connected in series,
including the ports of the first Branch Selector unit must be less than or equal to 12 ports. The max-
imum allowable number of indoor units connected to Branch Selector unit in series, including the
indoor units connected to the first Branch Selector unit, must be less than or equal to 30.
<E> - A minimum of 1 indoor unit must be connected to the farthest port of the last Branch Selector unit in series.
<F> - A Flex Branch Selector unit connected in series could be installed with zero indoor units con-
nected, provided it is not the last Branch Selector unit in the series.
<G> - The maximum allowable capacity index per port is 54. A maximum of 5 indoor units can be con-
nected to each port.
<H> - 2 ports can be combined for capacity index over 54. The maximum allowable capacity index that can be con-
nected to combined ports must be less than or equal to 96. Use an optional Joint kit (KHRP26A250T, sold
separately) to join two ports downstream. A maximum of 5 indoor units can be connected to the combined port.
<I> - BSF4-8Q series Branch Selector units can be combined with BS4-8Q series multi-port Branch
Selector units and BSQ36-96 series single port Branch Selector units.
<J> - Cooling-only indoor unit can be connected. Connect liquid and suction gas pipes directly to main
pipes without Branch Selector units or the downstream outlet pipes of the Branch Selector unit.
