This manual provides all the detailed in-
formation required for the knowledge and
correct use of the equipment. It must be
read carefully at the time of purchase and
consulted if there are any doubts regarding
its use or when maintenance is required.
The manufacturer reserves the right to
make any modifications to the item and to

This installation manual is only intended for
professional personnel.
Anything not expressly included in these
instructions is prohibited.
In particular, your attention should be
drawn towards the following warning:
• Disconnect power before making any
electrical connections.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND
INTENDED USE
The DART ADJUSTABLE BATTERY pho-
tocell, which uses simple and effective
electronics, is suitable for all types of sys-
tems and conditions (Fig. 3).
The rotation mechanism of the board al-
lows the item to be used in all cases where
there is no option to install photocells in
the front position or at the same height
(Fig. 9).
Wall-mounted coded photocells with bat-
tery-powered transmitter operation, range
up to 18 m under optimal conditions.
The DART BATTERY photocell solves
issues related to electrical cable routing
when connecting the transmitter. Coding
of the transmitted signal, to be set at the
time of installation, minimises interference
between devices.
PRELIMINARY CHECKS
• Check that the item inside the packaging
is intact and in good condition.
• Ensure that the positioning of the pho-
tocells allows for correct installation and
securing of the photocells (Fig. 2).

TRANSMITTER DESCRIPTION (TX)
Operating Range Selection (SW1 Dip-
Switch N° 1)
The maximum operating distance of the
photocell is approximately 10 metres at
normal power (Dip-Switch N° 1 OFF "fac-
tory settings") of approximately 18 metres
at maximum power (Dip-Switch N° 1 ON).
Operation Coding Selection "A" and "B"
(SW1 Dip-Switch N° 2), Fig. 16-17
The photocell has two operating channels
coded "A" and "B", which gives the user
the option of installing 2 pairs of the same
model with no interference between them.
Coding "A" (Dip-Switch N° 2 OFF "factory
settings") and/or coding "B" (Dip-Switch
N° 2 ON), must be selected in the same
way on both the transmitting and the re-
ceiving ends at the time of installation.
Connections CN1
When using a safety edge, remove
the jumper and insert the safety edge
wires.
Power supply and autonomy
The transmitter is powered by a 1,5 V
alkaline battery. The average lifetime of a
battery is approx. 18 months at normal
power and approx. 12 months at max-
imum power. Lifetimes depends on the
quality of the batteries used.
Selecting the type of safety device
A safety device can be connected to
the transmitter (e.g. a safety edge to be
mounted on the moving edge of a sliding
gate): when the device is operated, the
transmitter interrupts transmission.
The type of safety device to be connected
can be selected using the jumper J1.
Before connecting the safety device, en-
sure the jumper between 1 and 2 has
been removed.
J1 position 1-2 = Safety device with 8k2
Ohm contact (Fig. 20).
J1 position 2-3 = Safety device with NC
contact (Fig. 21).
If no safety devices are connected, config-
ure the jumper 1 in position 2-3 and bridge
terminal cn1.
The 1.5 V (AA) alkaline battery must
be replaced every year to ensure op-
timal operation (Fig. 14).
RECEIVER DESCRIPTION (RX)
Power supply
The receiver can be powered by 12 or 24
V both direct current (observe polarity) and
alternating current.
Connections
1 - power supply 12-24 Vac-dc.
2 - power supply 0 Vac-dc.
3 - photocell contact NO/NC.
4 - photocell contact NO/NC.
Contact selection NO/NC relay (via
Jumper J1), Fig. 22
The NO (Normally Open) or NC (Normally
Closed) relay contact type can be chosen.
J1 position 1- 2: NO relay contact.
J1 position 2-3: NC relay contact (factory
settings).

Operation Coding Selection "A" and "B"
(via Jumper J2)
The photocell includes two operating
channels coded "A" and "B". Pay special
care to ensure that the codings are the
same way on both the transmitter and the
receiver.
J2 position 1- 2: Coding operation B.
J2 Position 2-3 : Coding operation A (fac-
tory settings).
Transmitter-Receiver alignment check
The LED 1 on the receiver indicates when
the pair of photocells is aligned.
The LED 1 will be permanently illuminat-

ed when the infrared beam is aligned and
will switch off when the infrared beam is

interrupted.

Checking the quality of the received
signal
The LED 2 on the receiver flashes ac-
cording to the quality of the signal re-
ceived from the paired transmitter. The
number of flashes is proportional to the
intensity of the received signal:
four flashes = optimum signal, one flash =
1
inadequate signal.
