Getting Started
• Open the „battery compartment" (K) on the rear of the housing and insert 2 x 1.5V Mignon
batteries of the type (Type: AA), paying attention to the correct polarity (observe positive/+ and
negative/-). All display elements appear in the display briefly. A short acoustic signal then
confirms that the clock is ready for use.
• Close the battery compartment.
• The radio symbol flashes „
During a DCF signal search, the buttons on the device are locked.
• The table clock can receive and utilize the so-called DCF signal. This is a signal that is sent by a
transmitter in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt/Main). It has a range of up to 1,500 km and, under ideal
reception conditions, even up to 2,000 km. Among other information, the DCF signal includes the
exact time (theoretical deviation is 1 second in one million years) and the date. Naturally, the com-
plicated manual setting of summer and winter time is not required when using the received DCF
signal. However, the time can also be set manually.
• During normal operation, the table clock attempts to receive the DCF signal daily at 3.00 am
(night), since at this time there are optimum reception conditions (low external interferences).
The table clock performs further attempts at reception at 4.00 am, 5.00 am and 6.00 am. In the
event of a failure (= no signal reception possible) the radio symbol „
out.
• It is possible to try to receive the DCF signal manually, by pressing the buttons „
(C) and „

DCF table clock makes three more attempts within 3 hours to receive the DCF signal.
If the DCF signal can be received, the radio symbol „

When deciding where to use the table clock, take care to place it far from
electric/electronic devices, cables, mains sockets or metal parts. These may have a
negative influence on the reception of the DCF signal.
During summer time, the display shows the letters „DST" . DST means „Daylight

The reception of the DCF signal can take up to 5 minutes. During this time, do not
move the table clock. Do not use any buttons.
Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metallised insulating glass windows,
reinforced concrete constructions, coated special wallpaper, heating devices,
electric/electronic devices located in the vicinity of the product or placement in cellar
rooms.
