5. INSTALLING THE MEASUREMENT PROGRAM
Before you connect the DSO to a computer, install the measurement program.
Switch on the computer and start the operating system.
Insert the provided software CD into the CD drive and close it. The automatic start mode will automatically
start the installation of the measurement program.
If this does not happen automatically, start the program "setup.exe" by double-clicking in Explorer, of your
operating system, on the drive holding the CD-ROM. The software installation will start.
Please follow the on-screen instructions.
In the start menu's program manager, a new folder called "DSO-XXXX" is created.
Leave the CD in the drive, for device installation.
6. CONNECTION AND INSTALLATION OF THE DSO
Connect the provided USB connection cable with a free USB port at your computer and then with the USB
connection (8) at the DSO.
The operating system recognises the new hardware and starts the "Hardware Wizard". The system auto-
matically searches for the suitable drivers and installs them. You should now be able to use the device.
If the message "The driver software was not installed" appears, the driver has to be installed separately as
it has not been recognised by the Windows system.
For Windows 7 proceed as follows:
• Click on "Start" → "Control Panel" → "Device Manager".
In the device manager there is an exclamation mark highlighted in yellow for "Other Devices" with the
text "Unknown Device".
• Double click on "Unknown Device".
• Now install the driver for this device by clicking on the button "Update driver".
• In the window that opens select " → Search for driver software on the computer".
• Now enter the path of your CD/DVD drive (for example: "D:\") and then check "Include subfolders", then
click on "Continue".
• Should a window with "Windows Security" appear with the following text: "The publisher of the driver soft-
ware could not be verifi ed", confi rm the installation by clicking on "→ Install this driver software anyway".
• The driver should now be recognised correctly and you can use the software for the USB oscilloscope.
If that is not the case, please contact our technical hotline. You will fi nd the telephone number on the
imprint.
For Windows XP/Vista
For the driver installation select the path of your CD/DVD drive and install the driver from the sub-directory
"Driver" on the enclosed CD.
7. STARTING THE MEASUREMENT PROGRAM
Start the computer and connect the USB connector from the computer to the DSO, before starting the
program. Open the start menu, or the "DSO-XXXX" program on the desktop screen, by double-clicking
on the icon. If necessary, start the program by right-clicking on the icon and select "Run as administrator."
Then, as needed, click OK on the following messages from Windows until the programme starts.
The measurement program's start screen appears and initialises the DSO. Select your model, if necessary.
The DSO is ready for use.
Using the program key "AUTO" (Autoset) all parameters for the DSO are set automatically, so the
optimum signal display appears on screen.
8. CLEANING
Always observe the following safety instructions before cleaning the device:

exposed.
Therefore, all the connected lines must be disconnected from the device before cleaning
and maintenance.
Do not use scouring, chemical or aggressive cleaning agents such as benzene, alcohol or such like. These
might attack the surface of the device. Furthermore, the fumes are hazardous to your health and are
explosive. Moreover, you should not use sharp-edged tools, screwdrivers or metal brushes or suchlike for
cleaning.
For cleaning the device or the display and the measuring cables, use a clean, slightly damp, fuzz-free,
