Information for use
sera UV-C System 24 W
Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use. When forwarding this unit to third parties,
this information for use is also to be handed over.
Thank you for purchasing the sera UV-C System 24 W.
The sera UV-C System 24 W has been designed for
freshwater and marine aquariums up to 1,000 liters
(264 US gal.) and for ponds up to 8,000 liters (2,110 US
gal).
The UV-C system is equipped with connectors for
20/25/32/40 mm (¾" / 1" / 1 ¼" / 1 ½") hose diameter,
suitable for pond pumps (e.g. sera pond pumps PP),
pond filters (e.g. sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter)
and aquarium external filters (e.g. sera fil bioactive
250).
General notes
WARNING:
Dangerous ultraviolet radiation!
To prevent eye damage, never look directly into the
UV-C lamp without protection when it is operating (eye
damage!)
Attention: Glass!
There are sensitive glass parts inside the UV-C system
that may easily break when shattered strongly. See
warranty conditions for further information.
Application range
sera UV-C systems reliably remove all kinds of floating
algae (cloudy green water) and reduce the multiplication
of thread and other algae without using chemicals.
Pathogens and cloudy water caused by bacteria are
also permanently removed.
The effect of the UV-C lamp is strictly physical and
restricted to the water flowing through. The inhabitants
of the pond and the filter organisms are not harmed by
using the UV-C system.
UV-C systems are not suitable for removing mineral
cloudiness from the water.
Application
The sera UV-C System 24 W can be used effectively
with or without a filter. The versatility of the system,
whose hose connectors (4) can be adjusted around the
longitudinal axis of the unit, is particularly advantageous.
The UV-C system cannot be operated without a pump.
The sera UV-C System 24 W can be used as follows:
• in case of freshwater aquariums, the sera UV-C
System 24 W can be installed upstream of an external
filter with integrated pump, such as the sera fil bioac-
tive 250 (1a), or to an aquarium pump (1b), such as the
sera aquarium pump P 1200 adjustable.
• in case of marine aquariums, the sera UV-C System
24 W can be integrated into the outlet hose back to
the aquarium (2). The UV-C system is installed in a dry
position outside the filter chamber.
• in case of ponds, the sera UV-C System 24 W can be
connected between a pond pump with a pump per-
formance of approx. 6,000 l/h (1,585 US gal./h) and an
external filter (3a) or directly to a pond pump (3b). We
recommend the sera pond PP 6000 or 9000 pond
pump and the sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter.
