ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATION
1. Your 44PRO™ Ice Drill is powered by a 4-stroke engine. You
must add three ounces of Jiffy 4-Cycle 0W40 Synthetic Oil
Jiffy (Part No. 4425) before starting the engine.
2. Change engine oil at the end of each ice fishing season.
3. Before adding oil to the engine, attach ice drill. Lay the unit down.
Elevate the drill assembly, so the drill assembly is parallel to the
ground, as shown below.
4. Turn oil-fill cap counter-clockwise and remove cap from oil-fill
opening. Proper oil level should come to the middle of the threads
in the lower part of the oil fill hole, as pictured above.
5. Slowly pour oil into the engine. Make sure you pour all three
ounces of oil into the engine.
6. Replace oil fill cap and turn clockwise until it is tight.
7. Check oil level prior to each fishing trip. Add oil as needed. Never
exceed recommended oil level. Over-filling can result in oil
leakage or engine damage.
8. When changing oil, remove oil-fill plug from engine and turn unit
over so oil can be poured into a proper oil disposal container.
After engine oil has been completely drained, repeat steps 3 – 6
above.
NOTE: Used oil will appear grey in color or "milky" which is
normal for use with propane fuel.
FUELING
1. Your Jiffy 44PRO™ Ice Drill uses a 16.4 ounce (465 gram)
disposable propane tank to fuel the ice drill's engine. The correct
tank has a diameter of approximately 3.875 inches (9.5 cm).
While exact running time will depend on ice conditions and auger
size, your Jiffy 44PRO™ is capable of drilling over 200 holes on a
full tank of propane.
2. For easy starting and best performance, it is recommended to use
a warm propane tank.
3. It is strongly recommends that you always have one additional
propane tank available to use as a backup.
4. Always use a propane tank of the size and type specified above.
Failure to do so may result in engine damage.
5. Always attach, remove or change your engine's propane tank in a
well-ventilated area.
6. To attach the propane tank, place the ice drill (with auger)
horizontally on a clean surface. Attach engine fuel line securely to
the propane tank. Turn tank finger-tight, to avoid cross-threading,
as well as to prevent damage to propane tank seals or valve.
When attaching the propane tank to the regulator, always hold the
tank in an upright position with the threaded connection in the up
position.
7. Position the propane tank into the tank cradle and latch the spring
clamp over the propane tank to secure tank to cradle on the
handle.
8. To remove propane tank from engine, reverse process.
9. Disconnect propane tank from the propane regulator for transport or
storage. Never store propane tank in a room, building or vehicle where
vapors may be exposed to an open flame, spark or excessive heat.
CHECK THE FOLLOWING BEFORE STARTING YOUR DRILL
1.
Be sure spark plug wire is ATTACHED to spark plug.
2.
The ON-Off switch is automatically in the run position to start engine.
3.
Inspect the machine for proper condition and operation, paying special
attention to the throttle control assembly, RUN/STOP (ON/OFF) switch,
and drilling assembly.
+
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY FROM THE TURNING DRILL
ASSEMBLY OR FROM REACTIVE FORCES, THE THROTTLE
ASSEMBLY AND RELATED MECHANISM MUST MOVE FREELY
AND RETURN IMMEDIATELY TO THE IDLE POSITION WHEN
RELEASED.
+
NEVER OPERATE YOUR DRILL IF IT HAS BEEN DAMAGED,
IMPROPERLY
ADJUSTED
SECURELY ASSEMBLED.
+
NEVER RUN ENGINE IN POORLY VENTILATED AREAS. ENGINE
EXHAUST CONTAINS CARBON MONOXIDE, AN ODORLESS AND
DEADLY GAS.
+
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY FROM REACTIVE FORCES,
THE OPERATOR MUST HAVE A FIRM GRIP ON THE MACHINE
AND A GOOD FOOTHOLD BEFORE STARTING THE DRILL AND
OPENING THE THROTTLE.
+
KEEP HANDS, FEET, HAIR AND LOOSE CLOTHING AWAY FROM
ANY MOVING PARTS ON ENGINE AND EQUIPMENT.
+
WARNING – TEMPERATURE OF MUFFLER AND NEARBY AREAS
MAY EXCEED 150° F (65° C) AVOID THESE AREAS TO AVOID
BURNS OR OTHER INJURY.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
COLD STARTING PROCEDURE: Starting engine for the first time or after
engine has cooled off or after running out of fuel.
The on/off switch is automatically in the RUN position to start the engine.
1.
The Jiffy 44PRO™ Ice Drill requires no choking or priming.
2.
Squeeze throttle control with left hand and grasp starter handle with right
3.
hand.
Slowly pull rope-start handle until you feel resistance from the engine,
4.
then pull rope with short, firm stroke similar to the motion used to start a
chain-saw or string-trimmer engine.
Without releasing rope-start handle or throttle control, let rope-start
5.
handle return to its original position.
If engine fails to start repeat steps 3 – 5.
6.
After hole is drilled in ice, slowly raise unit from the hole. Depress and
7.
hold rocker switch in the STOP (OFF) position until engine comes to a
complete stop.
Important – If the engine does not start due to extremely cold
8.
temperature, replace propane tank with one that has been stored in a
warm environment or temporarily move ice drill to a warmer location. After
ice drill has been allowed to warm up sufficiently, repeat steps 1 – 5.
