the scope of the defined conditions of use and for the intended purpose of use. A plan of rescue
measures must be available in which all possible emergencies during working are accounted for.
Health restrictions, such as, for example, heart and circulation problems, the taking of medication or
similar can affect the safety of the user when working at height.
On delivery of a complete system, the components of the complete system must not be replaced.
The lanyard in the length 0,5 m located on the fall arrester KB1-12KM and AH3-12KM may not be
extended. The carabiner with swivel in the length 0,22 m located on the fall arrester AH4-12KM and
AH4F-12KM may also not be extended.
If the guided type fall arrester including a flexible anchor line is resold in another country, the reseller
must make available instructions for use, servicing, regular checking and maintenance in the
language of the other country.
Instructions on horizontal use of the fall arrester KB1-12KM:
The guided type fall arrester KB1-12KM including the flexible anchor line S12KM have also been
tested and certified for horizontal application in addition to vertical application. Here a drop over a
90° edge (flat steel) simulated with a radius of 0.5 mm. For horizontal application, you should ensure
that the dropping edge has a radius of at least 0.5 mm and an angle of at least 90°. If the hazard
assessment performed before the work begins shows that the dropping edge is a particularly
"cutting" and/or "non-burr-free" edge (e.g. uncovered attics or a sharp concrete edge), before work
starts, it is to be precluded with the appropriate measures that a drop over the edge is possible or a
suitable edge guard can be mounted or it should be necessary to contact the manufacturer. The limit
for the movable guide may not be below the standing area of the user for horizontal use. Lateral
motion on the dropping edge should be max. 1.5 m to the right and to the left from the middle axis of
the limit point. In particular, the slack rope should be avoided to prevent a pendular drop. Always set
the slack rope to be as short as possible to prevent a drop over the edge from the start. If a larger
area on the drop edge must be covered, there should not be an individual limit point but a limit
system of the class C or D of EN795. When using a limit device of class C, the displacement of the
limit system should be taken into account when determining the required clearance under the user.
Dropping over an edge always ensures an increased risk for the user such as impact against a
building or the system and should therefore always be prevented by appropriate measures. The
special rescue measures during a drop over the edge must be taught and trained.
For the guided type fall arrester KB1-12KM including a flexible anchor line S12KM,
the following maximum user loads apply.
Vertical safety
Horizontal safety (possible fall over an edge)
