INSTALLATION
Always install the UV-C apparatus outside the pond or aquarium. Make sure that it cannot become
immersed in the water. Make sure also that children cannot obtain access to it. Only use grounded
outdoor sockets with closing cover. Insert the plug of the apparatus so that the flex is pointing down-
wards. Keep moisture out of the plug and socket. Place the transformer in a area protected against
the sun. The mounting brackets can be used to fit the apparatus at the desired location. The con-
nectors (supplied) can be sawn to size and adjusted to the desired hose diameter. Now install the
apparatus as shown on the drawing. First remove the plastic cover of the UV-C lamp. Make sure
that the sealing ring is securely in position. Hand-tighten all connections securely. Before switching
on the UV-C lamp, check that all the connections are watertight by connecting the pump.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Remember that UV-C radiation is dangerous for the eyes and skin. If the through flow of the water
stagnates, e.g. as a result of a blockage or a defective pump, the UV-C lamp must always be
switched off immediately. The power supply must also be switched off immediately if the apparatus
or the electric flex should become damaged. Make sure that there is a safe, grounded connection
running to the mains and always use an earth leakage switch with 30 mA rated voltage.
MAINTENANCE
In order to keep the UV-C apparatus working properly you must clean the feed and discharge con-
nections and the quartz glass at least 3 times a year. To do this, first switch off the power supply to
the UV-C apparatus and to the pump unit. Carefully remove the quartz tube and wash it with luke-
warm soapy water. Remove any lime scale with vinegar. The effective service life of the UV-C lamp
is 7500 burning hours. If used continuously the UV-C lamp will therefore last for an entire pond
season. You are recommended to fit a new UV-C lamp every spring, in March. Only after a week or
two, the output of the PL UV-C lamp will be optimum. This is a normal process for this type of lamp.
WARRANTY
Except the PL UV-C lamp, the quartz glass and the sealing ring this UV-C Filter is guaranteed by
the manufacturer for a period of 24 months. In case of wrong assembly, injudicious use or bad
maintenance the guarantee will end. This also applies if the plug, the flex or the housing will be
damaged. See the terms on the enclosed guarantee card and visit www.velda.com/service for the
warranty procedure. In case you have a right to guarantee, the dated receipt has to be submitted.
