Installing the antenna
Ensure that you have read the section
proposed location, following the instructions on page 5.
An antenna may be mounted to a round pipe using U-bolts, to any flat surface using hex bolts, or to a flat wooden surface using wood screws.
Typically, Cattle Antennas are mounted to pipework and Sheep Antennas are mounted onto a flat wooden surface; however, other options are
available if required.
Mounting the antenna on a round pipe
This is the typical method used to mount a Cattle Antenna. Use U-bolts to secure the antenna.
Caution!
The ends of the U-bolts can potentially harm animals. Ensure that the U-bolts are inserted so that the ends are outside the animal handling
system.
You will need:
4 x U-bolts (provided)
•
8 x flat washers (provided)
•
8 x hex nuts (provided)
•
To mount the antenna on a round pipe:
6
Locate the mounting slots on the antenna (see the diagrams on page 3).
7
Attach the antenna to the outside of the crush/chute, weigh crate or drafter using the four U-bolts and the washers and hex nuts provided.
Ensure that the U-bolts are inserted so that the ends are on the outside of the animal handling system. Tighten the hex nuts enough to
eliminate lateral movement.
Caution!
Over-tightening the hex nuts may damage the antenna and void the warranty.
8
Set up the antenna, see page 8.
Mounting the antenna onto a flat surface
The antenna can be mounted onto any flat surface using hex bolts to secure the antenna.
You will need to drill mounting holes in the mounting surface before attaching the antenna.
Caution!
The ends of the hex-bolts can potentially harm animals. Ensure that the hex-bolts are inserted so that the ends are outside the animal
handling system.
You will need:
A marker pen
•
An electric drill
•
8 mm drill bit
•
4 x hex bolts (provided)
•
4 x hex nuts (provided)
•
8 x flat washers (provided)
•
To mount the antenna onto a flat surface:
1
Locate the mounting slots on the antenna (see the diagrams on page 3).
2
Hold the antenna in position in the mounting location. With a marker pen, mark four mounting holes on the mounting surface, two at the top,
two at the bottom.
3
Drill four holes through the mounting surface, using an 8 mm drill bit.
4
Attach the antenna to the outside of the crush/chute, weigh crate or drafter using the four hex bolts and four hex nuts provided. Fit washers
underneath each bolt head and each hex nut. Ensure that the hex bolts are inserted so that the ends are on the outside of the animal handling
system. Tighten the hex nuts enough to eliminate lateral movement.
