Usage of Radio Data System (RDS)
RDS is a broadcast system in which FM stations transmit useful information along with the actual
broadcast signal. These can be extracted from the normal transmit signal and used for a number of
additional functions. If an RDS signal is received, after some time the station name will be displayed
instead of the frequency, and radio text will be displayed in the bottom line of the display (if support-
ed by the station).
RDS functions
The following information can be retrieved by repeatedly pressing the <INFO> key:
• PTY (Program Type) - If no PTY signal is sent from the station, "[No PTY]" will be displayed.
• Frequency - If no RDS signal is received, "[No Name]" appears.
• Time - If no time signal is sent by the transmitter, "00:00:00" will appear.
• Date - If no date signal is sent by the station, "01-01-2018" appears.
In the case of insufficient reception conditions, the reception of the signals may be interrupted or not
possible.
