replacement parts. This will ensure that
the safety of the power tool is maintained.
b) Never service damaged battery packs.
Service of battery packs should only be
performed by the manufacturer or uthorized
service providers.
DRILL SAFETY WARNINGS
I. Safety instructions for all operations
a) Hold power tool by insulated gripping
surfaces, when performing an opera-
tion where the cutting accessory may
contact hidden wiring. Cutting accessory
or fasteners contacting a "live" wire may
make exposed metal parts of the power tool
"live" and could give the operator an electric
shock.
II. Safety instructions when using long
drill bits
a) Never operate at higher speed than the
maximum speed rating of the drill bit. At
higher speeds, the bit is likely to bend if al-
lowed to rotate freely without contacting the
workpiece, resulting in personal injury.
b) Always start drilling at low speed and
with the bit tip in contact with the work-
piece. At higher speeds, the bit is likely to
bend if allowed to rotate freely without con-
tacting the workpiece, resulting in personal
injury.
c) Apply pressure only in direct line with
the bit and do not apply excessive pres-
sure. Bits can bend causing breakage or
loss of control, resulting in personal injury.
III. Additional warnings
a) Secure the workpiece. A workpiece
clamped with clamping devices or in a vice
is held more secure than by hand.
b) Take protective measures when dust
can develop during working that is
harmful to one's health, combustible or
explosive. Example: Some dusts are re-
garded as carcinogenic. Wear a dust mask
and work with dust/chip extraction when
connectable.
c) Before any work on the machine (e.g.,
maintenance, tool change, etc.) as well
142
EN
as during transport and storage, set the
rotational direction switch to the centre
position. Unintentional actuation of the On/
Off switch can lead to injuries.
d) Hold the machine with a firm grip. High
reaction torque can briefly occur while driv-
ing in and loosening screws.
e) Switch off the power tool immediately
when the tool inserted jams. Be pre-
pared for high reaction torque that can
cause kickback. The tool insert jams
when:
- the power tool is subject to overload or
- it becomes wedged in the work piece.
f) Use a metal detector to determine if
there are gas or water pipes hidden in
the work area or call the local utility
company for assistance before begin-
ning the operation. Striking or cutting into
a gas line will result in explosion. Water en-
tering an electrical device may cause elec-
trocution.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAT-
TERY CHARGER
This charger is not intended for use
1.
by children and persons with physi-
cal, sensory or mental limitations or

Cleaning and user maintenance
4.
of the battery charger shall not be
made by children without supervi-
sion.
Keep the battery charger away from
5.
rain or moisture. Penetration of wa-
ter in the battery charger increases
the risk of an electric shock.
Keep the battery charger clean.
6.
Contamination can lead to danger
of an electric shock.
Before each use, check the battery
7.
charger, cable, plug and battery.
If damage is detected, do not use
the battery charger. Never open the
battery charger yourself.
Repairs may be carried out only
8.
by an authorised customer service
centre, only using original spare
parts. Damaged battery chargers,
cables and plugs increase the risk
of an electric shock.
Do not place any objects on the bat-
9.
tery charger and do not place the
battery charger on soft surfaces.
There is a risk of fire.
Always check that the mains volt-
10.
age matches the voltage indicated
on the rating plate of the battery
charger.
Never use the charger if cable, plug
11.
or the unit itself has been dam-
aged by external influences. Take
the charger to the nearest service
centre.
Never open the battery charger. If
12.
the battery charger is defective,
take it to a service centre.
Never use this charger to charge
13.
non-rechargeable batteries.
Ensure that the work area is clean
14.
and well lit.
Modification of the charger or tam-
15.
pering with its parts is not permis-
sible.
Do not operate the charger in ex-
16.
plosive atmospheres such as in
the presence of flammable liquids,
gases or dust.
Keep children and other persons
17.
away from the working area while
the charger is in use.
The plug of the power cable must
18.
match the outlet. Never modify the
plug in any way.
Avoid body contact with earth or
19.
grounded surface such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
Do not abuse the power cable.
20.
Never use the power cable to carry,
21.
pull or unplug the charger.
Keep the cable away from heat, oil,
22.
sharp edges and moving parts.
Do not wear jewellery such as rings
23.
and chains when operating the
charger.
Ensure that the charger is standing
24.
in a steady, secure position.
Avoid touching the contacts.
25.
Use the charger only to charge the
26.
specified batteries.
When not in use, keep the charger
27.
away from paper-clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws, or other small metal
objects, that can cause a short-cir-
cuit at the charging contacts.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAT-
TERY
