3.2 Commissioning the Generator
Ensure that the area is suitably ventilated during the commissioning stage as nitrogen will flow from the 3 way ball valve.
It is assumed that the system is configured with an isolation valve on the outlet of the generator and a 3 way ball valve on the inlet of the
application instrument as shown in "Recommended system layout" on page 8.
Close the isolation valve on the outlet of the generator.
1
Adjust the 3 way ball valve to isolate the application instrument from the system and divert the flow to atmosphere.
2
Lift the upper access panel and verify that the N2 Mass Flow Controller bypass valve is positioned to direct the flow to the N2 MFC Outlet
3
port.
Turn the generator on at the power switch and wait for it to enter standby mode.
4
Press
to Run the generator. Check the pressure gauges on the front of the generator to
5
verify that the generator is pressurising.
Note. There will be a 30 Second delay whilst the generator degasses.
Slowly open the isolation valve on the outlet of the generator and allow the gas to flow to
6
atmosphere.
It takes approximately 6 hours for the generator to reach the purity stated in "Technical Specification" on page 3. In addition the
system piping will need flushing for approximately 1 hour for every 10 metres of piping. Failure to do so could damage the application
instrument therefore it is recommended that the purity is monitored.
Once the generator has reached its specified purity, and the system has been purged, the application instrument may be connected to the
7
system. Adjust the 3 way ball valve to direct the flow to the application instrument.
Swapping the N2 Outlet Port Connections
If there is an secondary MFC installed within the system, you will need to swap the N2 port connections as detailed below.
Close the isolation valve on the outlet of the generator, and press
8
display will change as shown.

The generator will continue to run for up to 9 minutes to complete the cycle and depressurise the
inlet piping and CMS columns. Once complete the menu will default to Standby.
10 Disconnect the isolation valve from the generator. Do not disconnect the system piping from the isolation valve, this must remain
sealed to prevent Oxygen ingress.
11 Unscrew the silencer from the N2 outlet port and fit it to the N2 MFC outlet port.
12 Connect the isolation valve to the N2 Outlet port.
13 Adjust the N2 Mass Flow Controller bypass valve to direct the flow to the N2 Outlet port.
