4. Assembly

4.1. General information

Check that the scope of delivery is complete
and that there are no signs of damage.
If parts delivered are damaged, please inform
MANN+HUMMEL immediately.
Assembly of the PreLine filter
system and installation of the lines,
particularly with regard to the
electrical connections, may only be
completed by properly trained
personnel who have received the
necessary instruction.
It is essential to observe the
information for proper installation
and assembly when carrying out
assembly work.
Pay attention to the direction of
flow.
Complete fixations and electrical
connections carefully and properly.
Check the filter is fixed properly in
the filter head to ensure reliable
operation.
Escaping diesel fuel represents a
health hazard! Wear protective
goggles and gloves.
(Also refer to the material safety
data sheet for diesel fuel )
When working on the fuel supply,
always place collecting vessels
under the tank or lines to collect any
escaping fuel. Dispose of collected
fuel and water according to the
applicable local waste disposal
directives.
Selection of the point of installation
is of considerable importance with
regard to a long-term, effective
function of the filter.
Before assembly, remove the label
attached to the filter.
MANN-FILTER
Requirements of the installation point
of the PreLine filter system:
 easily accessible for maintenance,
 in flow direction, downstream from the
tank and upstream from the engine,
(injection
pump)
 not in an area where it could be hit by a
stone,
 on the frame, if possible
 pay attention to the cable length in the
case of versions with heater,
 low-vibration area,
 fixed by at least two bolts,
 fixed by 4 bolts in the case of vehicles
subject to high vibration loads,
When assembled by 4 bolts, the
filter must be disassembled from
the filter head to enable easier
access to the lower fixation holes.
 assemble the PreLine filter system
vertically,
 assemble it above the level of the tank
to prevent the tank running dry during
maintenance work on the filter,
 to ensure sufficient suction pressure at
the PreLine filter system, the column
distance between the tank and filter
system must not exceed 1.5 m.

4.2. Assembling the PreLine

Take the complete filter system (head with
hand pump, filter with water collecting tank
and water drain plug) into account when
selecting the installation point due to the
space necessary.
Check the delivery is complete.
 Select a suitable point on the vehicle
frame (Pos.10, Fig. 3) (observe the
information in Chapter 4.1).
